The Armory and Ordinance Handbook

I haven't used this, but it looks extremely interesting. It's a design system for Classic Traveller weapons and armor. (Yep, CT's own version of Fire Fusion & Steel).

You can get it HERE.

Design some weapons. The opening paragraphs of the book promise to turn out Book 1 stats for weapons. Let us know how they turn out.
Well it's not really FFS for CT, but it is a wonderful resource for designing weapons (both melee & guns) and armor.

Well...I guess: Book 2 Starship Construction + Book 5 Starship Construction + Striker Vehicle Design Systems + Book 8 Robot Construction + The Handbook = CT's version of FF&S.

I guess that's closer to a better comparison.

Kerry, you've used the weapon designs in The Handbook? Will it exactly replicate weapons and stats shown in Book 1?

</font>[/QUOTE]Unless I'm missing something, the answer is "no". It creates a new combat system by having armor absorb damage.

According to pg. 3, under Weapon Summary, it states the design systems can be used to create either Book 1 style weapons or weapons for the alternate combat system you cite above.

But I can find no rules on how to translate the weapon stats into CT modifiers for range and armor type.

Well, that's too bad then. I haven't used it myself, but I've always dreamed about a system that would output CT stats for weapons and armor.

I thought one day, I'd work on that. But, it's never moved up on my priority list.

If someone made such a system, though--a good system that really works--that would be incredible.
