I pretty much subsumed it into the 'cautious attempt/cross check' rules using the SoM.
If they didn't want to make a cautious task roll (for whatever reason) it was assumed that they were 'just ticking boxes' as opposed to triple checking everything by the numbers. If the uncertain roll went bad, something may happen or it may not. If they did a cautious roll (doubling the time taken) it dropped the task difficulty by one level (diff -> rout, rout ->simple). But even then, the rolls only came into effect when something important had/was happening - they were fleeing pirates, rushing to the resuce, had a bomb on board, had skimped on maintenance, etc. Deciding about whether to do it properly or do it quickly could have serious consequences.
Otherwise most of the 'non interesting' trips assumed that everything was done properly with no shortcuts. Of course they could always say they were doing detailed checks in case of a stowaway, tampering, whatever - but it didn't happen too often as it got boring after a while was skipped it as a assumption they did them (unless something was happening in which case it went back to the cautious/cross check rolls).
