"The Freedom League" OOP?

After years away from Traveller, I'm finding my interest rekindling, particularly in the TNE period. A casual web search revealed a 2008 Avenger Enterprises product, 1248 Sourcebook 4: The Freedom League, which would appear to be an entire book devoted to the Reformation Coalition and its neighbors.

Was this book actually produced? And is there really no longer any way to obtain this product? (I'm feeling bemused by the very idea of a PDF going "out of print", but I understand there are other issues which could be involved.)

Well, it's not dedicated to the RC - the Freedom League is what the RC morphs into in the 1248 setting. It was never produced in hardcopy - but is available on the TNE2 CD-Rom from Far Future Enterprises.

It contains the history of the area from the collapse until 1248, NPCs, ships, sector details
(a sectors approx) with maps and UWPs andf a short 1248 FL adventure

All of the 1248 material is really excellent. It's very dense reading (lots of text, not so much art to break it up), but there is tons of material in there. I would highly recommend it.

Yes it was a last minute rush job before the Avenger licence ended, and done by freelancers so no art budget and no time

I don't think that had anything to do with it. Most of the Avenger stuff was high on text and low on art, but that doesn't reduce the quality of the material though.

The writing in the Freedom League was very good - but there were a lot of places where the book clashed with the TNE books. I don't know if this was by design, or due to the time factor pushing those concerned to "get it out the door" before the license went bye-bye. It also shared a problem I have with almost all the 1248 books - whilst well written, they had a pulpy, cinematic style that just didn't mesh with the gritty realism of the original, IMHO. Lots of mine-able stuff there though.

The 1248 material is really good. To me, the 4th Imperium holds the greatest promise of all Traveller settings. For me, the old vanilla pre-rebellion Imperium kinda lost it's attraction after a while. No dangerous "blank" areas. Too civilized for me... The Rebellion was cool, but also rather limited in the long run. Hard times and then the Virus era used to be my favourites, but I realize that the setting might be too depressing for some. But the 4th Imperium actually support all gaming styles.

So for me, the 4th Imperium with MongTrav = success :)

Have to admit that the combination I use, the group I run is set in Reavers Deep in 1248 and I use modified mongoose rules. though the rules have been modified so the PC's get experiance points and can roll advances.
