Thunderbird 2: Concept for a modular freighter.

According to my method of generating ship tonage, the TB2 is 600 tons. Here's the HGS generation of the Thunderbird 2 in which I reduced the size to the smallest possible hull size. The only thing missing from HGS is the equipment necessary to hold the cargo pod to the ship.

The concept for the cargo pods can be anything. The example vehicle bay/lab actually came from the show. The standard cargo pod is two stories tall (6 meters), which means I could design a module that could house an explorer base, undersea lab or even a dorm for a larger collection of pods that could become a base on some distance world.

Just some food for thought....

Here's an example of a cargo pod designed to be exploration base used by scouts.

Most excellent! You managed to squeeze in some jump fuel I see.

BTW:

In a few episodes a remote machinegun is used on TB2. It drops below the chin. Virgil used it in Attack of the Alligators, but the gators' hides were too tough. When I watch the show now I'm always amused to see how often some gunplay shows up - the guns behind FAB-1's grill, Parker and Penelope shooting it out with spies, the Tracy's carry pistols.

Those pods look promising, especially the research one. You could just drop it off with some scouts and all along with a big pod full of gear and you'd have an instant base! Excellent job!

I am near completion of the TB2. and was amazed that I got it close to the HGS ship posted in this thread. I will be taking down the TB updates once I finish the finalize drawing. The Cargo Pods will remain up until I make a page full of modules to go with it.

Excellent as always, Rigel. Your work is always worth waiting for and I greedily collect each image.

Thank you so very much for sharing it with us.
