Anyone happen to know how long it would take to get from the Spinward Marches to the 2K Worlds?

I am too lazy to count all those hexes and I am sure that one of us has done it already.

Could you please tell us the jump capability of the ship doing this travel?

I don't believe anyone can answer you without that bit of information

Too many variables to answer the question :)

What kind of ship and urgency? A J6 Naval Courier with resources in place to jump ASAP at each leg could do it pretty quickly. A J2 Far-Trader, having to spend a week in each system for business, and jump indirectly to get around rifts and maximize profits, as well as taking 2 weeks out each year for annual maintenance is going to take a long time.

I vaguely recall the X-Boat trans-Imperial message lag is over a year, and that's at J4 (average a bit less) with no layovers in each system. If my memory on that is close then I'd say:

A J6 Courier could do it in half the time (6 months).

A J2 Far-Trader in four times as long (4 years).

And you might be able to do it in twice that with lucky bookings and no layovers on various liners (2 years).

A rough estimate would be about 300 parsecs. Travel time depends on the kind of ship you travel on and the astrography. By jump-3 it might be aroung 110 jumps (adding 10% to account for detours due to inconvenient astrography). Each jump would take about 10 days on regular sheduled liners, so something around 1100 days. Add another 10% (or more) to account for delays and missed connections. Call it three years and eight months.

Courier traffic might manage 5.5 parsecs per jump, say 55 jumps at 8 days per jump or one year and three months.

EDIT: X-boats may be jump-4, but according to canon they average 2.6 parsecs per week...

Right you are, for some reason I had 3.6 in my head. So for my guesses above, double all estimates would be closer :)

Certain stretches do run >3Pc average for a bunch of jumps...

But not the ones important to this crossing.

Let's see... 9 sectors crossed in entirety from the SM to the furthest spinward of the 2000 worlds..9x32=288pc. Many chunks of the route in gateway are doglegging about due to the sparseness - J3 it's crossable (I checked); J2 it's not, go around for another 40+ Pc...

So, averaging 2.6 Pc/J, 110 jumps, ignoring the sparse leading to the rift, and the need to go coreward in Corridor, and rimward to reach gateway...

If only Travellermap.com had a routefinder....
