In case anyone hasn't had time to do a character, and wants to play a marine: UPP and Skills not included (Dan has the character in its entirety). If anyone else wants to steal the write-up for their own CT game, please feel free to let me know and I'll provide the rest of the details.

Name: Captain Julius Edward Altwies EMC (Emperors Marine Corps), Retired
Age: 35 / 36 (a total of roughly 1 year spent on various frozen watch assignments)
UPP - XXXXXX
Gender - Male
Build - Ectomorphic (Slender) (ht 190 cm Weight 68 kg)
Julius (Jules or Ed to his friends) is tall and willowy, to the point that he is ocassionally mistaken for a (female) model, with slender, graceful features, pianist's hands and the haunted look about his eyes of a veteran who has seen too much action. His close cropped alburn hair and careful gait often result in him being mistaken for a spacer, reflecting the fact that Julius has spent a considerable part of his service life in space, traveling to or from one point of "interest" to another.
Julius is a veteran of the (now disbanded) 647th marine corps, infamous for the massacre on Turin (or insert the name of a system conveniently far away from the game area) and while it is a point of record that there were three companies of the "red regiment" on detached duties while these atrocities were taking place (including "Hotel" company on the cruiser "Illustrious", commanded by Julius) the entire regiment was painted with the same brush of zealotry, and the colours were disbanded in disgrace, never to serve the empire again. The remaining officers and men of the regiment quickly found that if they were not creatively cashiered, their careers were either ended or favored with any number of extremely hazardous "volunteer only" duties. After serving a final tour with the 1189th heavy lift regiment, and being "accidentally" left in a hot extraction zone with two other former members of the 647th, Julius chose to leave the service on a medical discharge rather than cause the deaths of any more men under his command as the EMC completes its houscleaning. While Julius is bitter at the corps for his treatment and the treatment of the other members of the regiment, he swore an oath to protect the emperor, and in his opinion seeking redress against the Corps would result in more damage to the emperor than quietly resigning and looking for other opportunities.
Other "opportunities" keep presenting themselves to Julius, since the 647th was an elite rapid response and security force, and any number of questionable employers are eager to employ staff of this competence (and many would prefer that their employees have an axe to grind against the current political establishment) especially those with both security training as well as "drop wings".
