Traveller Languages

Does anybody know of a site where I could find software which can generate words in the OTU languages.

Basically I'm looking for automated versions of the tables in the Alien Modules, preferably downloadable, so that I can use them even when my laptop is not connected to the electronic interweb thingy.

Thanks in advance. :)

Yeah, well, Robject's site has that covered too -- as well as a really handy 6,000-word Vilani vocab list.

There's also an old "Talkin' Vilani" thread over in the Contact! section of this board, where you can try out any of the language mojo you might pick up out of this.

...for which I am sadly to blame for its languishment...

(Side note: I finally got ahold of Theodora Bynon's Historical Linguistics, and it's astonishingly readble).

I have the CT languages in an Excel spreadsheet that will randomly generate a word (using the tables and rules) when you recalculate. That's about all I can offer... :(

Well, since nobody's brought this site up yet, I guess I'll be the one to do it. I contains a random word generator for a dozen Traveller races -- although I cannot vouch for the "canonicity" of some of them (such as the Ael Yael and Gurvin generators).

You can't use it offline, unfortunately. The WordGen program at the Freelance Traveller site is pretty good for an offline solution; although it is a bit buggy, and it only offers word generators for five of the Major Races.

It does include a facility to build your own language. So if you can get a hold of any of the tables for Traveller languages that are lying around, you can input that into the program and see what it spits out.

Or you can plug in a table of your own, and invent a whole new Traveller language for us (Llellewlowyan, anyone?).

I've updated my OTU random word generator to accommodate:

Ael Yael
Aslan
Bwap
Darrian
Droyne
Gurvin
Ithklur
Kalaan (predecessor language to Vilani)
K'Kree
Sword Worlder
Sylean
Vargr
Vilani (default)
Yiirabarhi (spoken on 567-908)
Zhodani

I don't suppose there're any websites with a Te-Zlodh (Darrian) lexicon...
One which is more akin to a Zlodh-English dictionary...?
