MGT Only: Traveller Starter Set review

This morning there was a review of the Mongoose Traveller Starter Set on YouTube.

It was a good reivew and it has made me look into getting it. I have not purchased a Traveller book since MegaTraveller.

I do have some questions.

-Is the game geared toward creating your own setting, or back to the 3rd Imperium?

-Are there rules for detailing planetary systems or just the best planet in the system?

-How easy is it to adapt it to earlier Traveller materials?

-Cyberware was mentioned. Can it turn your game into Cyberpunk?

-Are ships computers still measured in tons?

Thanks!

If you want me to post the link, please let me know. Or just look on YouTube.

-Is the game geared toward creating your own setting, or back to the 3rd Imperium?
About as original Traveller, creating your own setting is supported, but the Imperium is mostly assumed.

-Are there rules for detailing planetary systems or just the best planet in the system?
Like LBB2, only one world per system.

-How easy is it to adapt it to earlier Traveller materials?
Quite easy, the same stats and ranges are used.

-Cyberware was mentioned. Can it turn your game into Cyberpunk?
Computers are more detailed, but it is hardly a good base for a Cyberpunk game.

-Are ships computers still measured in tons?
No, ship's computers take no space. Ship design is not in the core book, but in the High Guard book.

Thanks for the information. I think I will get back into Traveller with the starter set.

I like the all the books in a box idea. Reminds me of my first Traveller purchase.
