Tutorials for Pbp or PBEM?

Hi Everybody!

I was wondering if there is anywhere online that has tutorials for either Play-by-post or Play-by-e-mail. I've always wanted to get into one of these games, but I think I misunderstand how it works or just need something to snap me out of my cluelessness.

It varies by GM, SS...

I'm running a PBP of Starships & Spacemen. Its at http://oldschooltrek.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aramis . I use a 3-thread system.

Thread one is all narrative. Write in authorial voice as long as nothing being done requires a roll.

Thread two is actions and rolls. That board has a built in die-roller, which we are using. When one wants to do an action that requires adjudication or die-rolls, it goes there, and the results get posted both there mechanically, and in narrative as a description.

Thread 3 is a chatter thread. vacation dates, rules questions.


Many GM's just use a single thread mode...

The PBEM "games" my wife participates in are all purely narrative. It's shared storywriting more than playing.
