SOC-12
Were deck plans for the Patrol Cruiser ever published in an official capacity for CT (including JTAS et al)?

You can find them in the FASA Adventure Class Ships Vol. 2. Rather rare, but it is on eBay from time to time.

Does ACS2 also happen to contain deckplans for the Yacht and Free Trader (I know the Free Trader is in Snapshot, but the plan doesn't look right...)?

Of the "Classic Traveller" ships (i.e., ones that you can find in the rules and adventures), ACS2 has the Type T, the Type Y Yacht and an early version of the Type M. It does have a Free and Far Trader, but not the classic Type A or A2. There are several other "non-classic" deckplans as well.

Thanks J!

While I'm asking then, does the Free Trader show up in any other CT source other than Snapshot?

Altho we might want to also mention that the Adventure Class Ships 'deckplans' are in reality "battle maps", huge foldout square-grid battlemaps intended for Traveller tabletop miniatures use. In other words, we are talking about deckplans here that will cover almost half of your billiards/pool table. All told, these will cover an area of 17" by 22" or larger :D

Technically, they still are deckplans but..... I suppose the vast majority of Traveller players think of "deckplans" as a simple reference blueprint or SSD of a ship, examples like in Traders & Gunboats for CT.

Yes, the Adventure Class Ships boxed sets are gorgeous. Even if you never do Traveller miniatures, these are just gorgeous collector's items to possess. I think I have the boxes for ACS 1 and 2, not sure if I have Merchant Class Ships (if I do then I lost it). All from FASA.

** PPS --- ok I got my dusty boxed copy of ACS2. These are the ships contained:

Lord Somerset Class, Type M Subsidized Liner

Fanzhienz Class, Type A2 Far Trader

Kurgulash Class Medical Scout

Lady of Shalott Class, Type Y Yacht

Endeavor Class, SOLOMANI CONFEDERATION Patrol Frigate

(anyone interested in seeing a nice screenshot/jpeg of this RARE Solomani warship? Just ask me)

Lurushaar Kilaalum Class Patrol Ship

Stayaow Class Combat Scout

Alexandria Class Type A Free Trader

Eshpadir Class Orbital Facility

Explorer Class Survey Cruiser

Yes, FASA's work in Adventure class ships is undoubtedly one of the jewels in the Traveller crown. Fantastic deckplans for miniatures combat - boarding actions, piracy, etc. If you can get hold of them off eBay they are well worth the investment.

Nice!

Yeah, I only have the deckplans, not the stats nor the box, for that matter.

But I am glad to have them if only for the Type T.

Sure, Why Not, I Always Liked the Solomani Ships!

Hehe. This is an easy one. Without any copyright violations, I'll just easily link to the original artist's Elfwood website. Hal Jordan was the guy that inked the Solomani ship designs, including the very well-known Solomani Courier (aka the SolSec Mustering Out Ship in Alien Module 6).

Solomani Frigate (THIS is the one that appears in Adventure Class Ships II)

Solomani Courier (first appeared via DGP products, but also appears in AM6, as well as GURPS-Trav)

The Rejected Never-Published Solomani Minerva Class Cruiser (author says this was a Fighter-Carrier Ship)

I emailed William H. Keith this morning to ask about his FASA stuff, but it bounced. Apparently his website hasn't been updated since 1999. Heck, is he even still alive?

I have a recollection that Mr. Keith passed away a few years ago. Or it may have been his brother - they both did a lot of work for Traveller. But, I can't find any confirmation of that either from this board or from Google. Am I having a false memory?

If he has died, may he rest in peace.

Best Regards,

Bob W.
