Unusual Scifi weapons

My question is: How does she sheathe the weapon when you have to aim it at the scabbard?

How about the Cutlass? Using one of those in a sci-fi setting is pretty unusual.

Star Trek has Lirpa's and Batlithe's doesn't it? Dune has daggers. Traveller is less over the top then Dune; cutlasses are a tradition more then an actual but implausibly justified weapon.

And frankly, if you're attacking someone inside a Starship, you don't want munitions and coherent energy zipping and zapping all those control panels, especially around the Bridge and Engineering sections. So a Cutlass makes good sense, especially as it's curved blade is shorter so as not to get tangled up in narrow airlocks and gangways. Also, you won't wind up shooting your own team mates in a confused melee.

I've been using the Blade to be a shortsword as well, just changing the weight a bit. That might make sense too.
