Vargr Extents

:confused: Errr... yessss... a .SAR and .SEC file...

Ummm... at the moment most of my maps are done in the one main format. That being the 'red, black, and blue pen with occassional coffee stain' format.

However, I'd be really grateful for a fill-in-able soft copy of a subsector/sector. I currently use photocopies from the old "Judges Guild Navigator's Starcharts". :( dating back to about 1980's.... (yes I am old.. and proud of it!)

.SAR - The PkZipped archive file of a sector created by Galactic. Galactic is (IMHO) the best mapping system available for Traveller. (I use H&E for world detail only, and Universe STILL hasn't been released by BITS) The .SAR will have all the features of the sector as it appears in your Galactic universe - ie. system maps, notes, world maps, subsector writeups, etc...

.SEC - the standard sector listing, ala GENII and Sunbane files...It's how the sectors are listed usually in the atlases and supplemants - ie. in numerical hex order starting with 0101 ... to 3240... It will have just the standard system listings, without any bells and whistles:
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;"> Varroerth 2017 A697A3D-G G Hi 402 Ve </pre>[/QUOTE]This doesn't tell you what subsector names, or allegience codes mean, although most .SEC files are modified with a header with such info :
Ngathksirz Sector
A: Odzgoegh
B: Kfirzin
etc...
Bases:
G = Vargr Navy
C = Vargr Corsair
Allegiance:
Va = Vargr (Non-Aligned)
Ve = Empire of Varroerth
Vl = Lair Protectorate

I don't usually generate .SEC files, as they add a couple of steps in sector creation (If you generate by subsector, you have to add them all up in Excel and put them into order...) But I have been known to do so for my original creations in order to help spread the good word...
The beaty of using Galactic is that you get to place minor races, sector caps, and even astrographic oddities (like nebula and deep space objects) with ease. That and it's a freebee program...

You can d/l Galactic from here:
http://www.elektrasystems.net/~jimv/gal.htm
also Clifford's Excellent site has a link plus all the sectors people have made (with a few exceptions...)
http://www.geocities.com/traveller_core_route/proj001a/proj001a.html

The best map of charted space is currently BerKa's
http://zho.berka.com/data/CLASSIC/
His site uses Galactic files, but displayed with a JAVA client...

.SEC files are common on other's sites

There are many more...

Varroerth is the capital of the Empire of Varroerth. The Empire is a large multi-sector empire spanning into 11 sectors. It is the largest Vargr state in the Extents. The capital is known for several interesting features - The Emperial Shipyards produces some of the most advanced ships in all the Vargr Extents. The Royal Polytechnic is one of the best Vargr universities, and its library includes one of only five copies of the Angkarr, the definitive culural epic of the Vargr race. Millions of visitors each year come to Varroerth to visit the magnificent palace grounds, and also to see the mighty Orbital Tower of Varroerth - one of the few beanstalks in charted space. The capital city is Varrotoeklae, place of the palace.

Hey Maddog, where ya' been? Varroerth? :confused:

Anyway, (1.) where is this site the maps are on, and (2.) are you making a landgrab?

Yeah, I still have to finish the Grand Census for my Emperor before I can play with my new ships, so I've been busy...
1. I'm always grabbing land, baby!
2. Try the ELibrary here... ;)

I went from Kindergarten to Collage there.
==========================================
You learned collage in 1st grade then?

Didn't every one?
I admit my paper cutting and pasting skills weren't Earth-shattering, but 1st grade is where they came from...
Collage comes in handy for decorating the apt., as well as the occasional ransom note...

(I work on campus - like most U.S. universities, spelling and all that book lernin' aint as important as a kick-A sports team...)
