Vargr / K'kree Bloodbath!

Oegveng Class Gunned Corvette

Ugznaezdouzgzu Class Corsair/Light Frigate

Of them all, the Aenoegrr class was the most surprising as I had a LOT of room left to add some stuff in. Not sure if I missed something on the original design or if T20 is just a tad more generous with the bigger ships.
Well, you posted them before I did. Good job on them!

Print, flog and re-use in general. I've got the ship stats marked as OGC because they are, and can be re-used as you like. The descriptive bit may sometimes make mention of non-OGC items and so is not re-useable as OGC ... but for personal use do what you want wtih them! (heck, even improve them and post your own versions on the web!)

[Edit: Oops, I just realised that something went very wrong with the two newest Vargr designs, I'll have to review them as the <br> character is missing, so that things tend to run together too much.]

OK, I've updated the site with revised web pages, and have corrected a mistake I had made with the Aenoegrr class where I had used TL-15 equipment instead of TL-13.

I've also added some of Alvin Pollard's designs back onto my download page - somehow they had gone missing during one of the updates.

SUU WEEET!
Great job Angus!
So when do the MT Vargr bad boys make time on yer site?
(the heretic refers to the 30ktn Naz-class battlecruiser & the 10ktn Foghoks-class cruiser Rebellion sourcebook, pp78-79).
Or the old favorite the Ueknou-class corsair (600dtns J2/3G)?
And their 200dtn Far trader (what hauls the loot off)!

luv em so far!
T20 salutes from the Q-ship boys

Thanks mate! It's been nice trying designs that come from 'official' Traveller sources as they make you think a little differently about ship design. I'm pretty sure the T20 rules will reward people more for high agility than high armour, but I've yet to actually convince someone to spend a couple of hours testing the rules with me ...

If you can give me a few more details, most notably TL, active defenses (if any) and weapons mix then I can have a go at these as T20 designs. OTOH, you could do them for me (using the spreadsheet) and I'll post 'em for you! :D

Okay Angus, lets try these figures: (MT Rebellion Sourcebook, p78-79)
Naz-Class Battle cruiser

Disp: 30 ktons

"Save for her jump drive, and weapons, her suystems are all TL-11. In order to support the Jump drive a series of trade offs ensued, foremost being Inertial compensators, and the 1G maneuver drive, squeezing all this firepower into a 30,000dtn hull. TL-11 spares being more common, the rest of the vessel is thus outfitted."
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Foghoks-class Cruiser
Hull disp: 10 ktons, 1SL
Jump 2/ Man 1 G /Agility 0
Endurance: 18/54 (combat/ crusing)

"this ship shows even more the disparity of of problems of larger starships with lower levels of technology. The ship sacrifices endurance and armor to achieve jump levels and weaponry it needs."

there ya go Angus!

I look forward to seeing these classic ships in a new vista...(after all, what a reallly powerful Vargr charismatic fellow needs is a big ship with guns...(sorry we left off the armor. .But its a BIG ship with guns! Laddie ... thanks for the reminder. The wife has been monopolising the computer (something about organising our Easter holiday - I mean it's at least 2 weeks away!).

I've got some spreadsheet changes to do, and I'll have a go at these then. So they'll get done soon - promise! ;)

Liam, I must be an idiot, but having tried to find the details for this sort of stuff in my CT and T4 starship desing rules, I find I can;t wrap my head around the USP system enough to understand this section.

My best guess would be:
3 (Nuclear?) Missile Bays (50/100-ton?)
1 PA spinal mount (with a "D" USP?)
40 Plasma Gun Turrets (single/double/triple?)
4 Beam Laser Turrets (single/double/triple?)
6 Sandcaster Turrets (single/double/triple?)
4 100-ton Repulsor Bays (only sort of Repulsor available in T20)

Can you (or someone else) please give me more info as to what the USP means?

Thanks! ;)

Falkyan

Here' the info

Spinal P Accel Factor D
25 batteries of F3 missiles (2 triple turrets per battery)
2 x 50tn plasma gun bays (should be F5)
25 batteries of beam lasers (2 triple turrets per battery)
5 x 100tn repulsor bays (F4)
25 batteries of F6 sand (8 turret mounted sandcasters per battery).

The format is X Y Z, where X is the factor of a spinal mount, Y is the factor of a bay mounted weapon, whilst Z is the factor of the turret mounted weapons. The numbers underneath are the total number of batteries and the number of batteries bearing.

Hope this helps
Cheers
Richard

Richard,

That's funtastic! Thanks for that, the "batteries bearing" is till a little vague to me, how does that tell you that you have 2 triple turrets per battery?

A very basic T20 version of the Naz Class Battle-Cruiser is on my website now.

I haven't done much thinking about it, merely tried to render the design Liam posted in T20 terms. Feel free to give feedback and help me tinker with it. I'll wait for feedback before doing the next one.

Thanks!

Falkayn.

The weapons factor tells you how many weapons are required to produce. There is a lookup table in High Guard and Megatraveller (same table).

The batteries and batteries bearing is different. Batteries is the total number of weapons batteries of that type on the ship, and the batteries bearing is the number that can be brought to bear on a target. The bigger the ship the lower the percentage of weapons you can point at any one point in space. (basically it prevents you firing the guns that are on the "wrong side" of the ship.

It was always assumed that as batteries were knocked out the ships would rotate about their axis to bring undamaged weapons into play.

Hope that helps

Cheers
Richard
