Being very enamored of VBAM, I've been using it (as omnipotent director) to recreate a version of the Great Game for my sci-fi setting. It's been really interesting to watch the area grow a bit more organically than "place this here, and that there."

And I remembered Hard Times/Megatrav. What a great setting for playing a huge VBAM game. You could use the travelleratlas web display for the map. Each player take a faction and see how you survive the Hard Times!

VBAM?

The supplements are full of stuff but you really only end up using this or that. The main three books are definitely required: Campaign, Companion and Menagerie.

The Terran War has excellent Internal Politics rules and the rules to convert to Starmada. Other than that, it's fairly specific to the campaign.

The other ones are so-so, each adding one or two things. The Jovian Chronicles one is excellent but OOP.

I'm in the process of rebooting my Omnipotent game so I'll post stuff about it here when I get started on it.
