Vemene

Vemene = Veh me, IMTU. I always had a soft spot for these corporate spooks. I always imagined them as ex-super spies who get recruited into the private sector when their services are no longer wanted by the State at the same time possessing the real human vulnerabilities of a LeCarre protagonist. Needless, to say their complicated personality does not usually get in the way of the job.

Typo in Traveller?

(insert edition here)---nahhhh.

However, predating those two in Traveller Adventure I guess gives us "Vemene".

(IMTU without the 'r', phonetically becomes Veh-men-nay).

Tukera-Lines, LIC. Corporate security boys (n Girls). Anti-hijacking, corporate espionage on the "other-major traffic lines", some industrial sabotage (discreetly) attributed, alleged against them. Certainly with the mega-mover of the Imperium they were one of the largest private security firms out there.

(And rivalled SuSAG's branch of 'security mayhem lads & lasses, iirc).
;)

The definitive answer, straight from LKW's keyboard:

-------------------------

Ve-me-ne

Ve: V as in Victory, "e" as in Red

me: M as in mike, long "e", as in knee

ne: N as in November, long "e", as in knee

I'm not sure if you're the same person who posed this exact question on the TML, but LKW answered:

Ah, but which syllables are stressed? Veh-MEE-nee, veh-mee-NEE, or a
Japanese-style equal stress veh-mee-nee?
Ve-me'-ne

And if it's a Vilani word, which tones are used on each syllable?
It's not a Vilani word.
