Ok gurps traveller question here, true. Maybe it should've gone into the GT forum, but given that that forum gets less use than a condom machine in a convent (Loosen up already, it's called a JOKE.) I opted to ask here in hopes of getting a reply.
Basically I see there's a weapon in gurps Infinite worlds that is called the "Porpetine" that is a powerful, mid range electromagentic rifle/shotgun/grenade launcher, depending on what you load it with.
If you're familiar with the Porp from IW and with traveller, I have a question for you: Would this beast fit in with a traveller game? There are fairly few SF weapons for gurps 4e yet and as such I'd like to add the porpentine to a GT game, I wanted to see if anyone thought it was 'unbalancing' or 'not canonical" since I do try to keep things fair and balanced, unlike the fox nutz channel.
As I see it, it should fit into any game where long range gauss weapons are canon since it's just a 20mm slow firing gauss weapon with fairly limited range, but it does fire a variety of rounds, from a standard slug that'll knock you flat in one shot to a 100 fletchette hive round that'll turn an unarmored man to hamburger to a couple explosive rounds, one of which is a SCAP that could take out a medium vehicle or power armor.
Seems fair to me, I just wanted another grognard's opinion.
