What happened to Far Future's Fair Use Policy?

Good Morning, All:

I've noticed that the Fair Use policy that enabled me to publish the "Stellar Reaches" fanzine is now missing from the Far Future website. This could be a programming snafu, or it could be related to the upcoming release of the Traveller OGL under Mongoose Publishing. Can someone clarify that for me? Until I know what's going on in these regards, "Stellar Reaches" is in limbo due to its OTU content.

Probably just a snafu. I haven't heard anything from Marc about changing the fair use policies, but just to be sure and get a definitive answer I have a call into Marc right now. As soon as I hear from him I'll let you know.

Just got off the phone with Marc. The missing Fair Use page is just AWOL, the terms are still in effect with no current plans to change them. As pointed out, there is a copy of the FFE terms here on the forums in the FAQs if anyone needs to see it until Marc can get his copy back up.

I have not yet heard from Marc, but I've heard from Matthew Sprange and Chris Longhurst on the matter, so I'm hoping things can get resolved in some form or fashion. I may have to remove the old issues from the website, as they have OTU material, but that decision is still being made.

I don't mind moving forward with no OTU material, if that's what it all means. The fans may have some issues with it, but there's little any of us can really do about it, so I'm all for accepting the future and moving forward instead of hitting my head against the wall. That doesn't help anyone, and it hurts my head, so I don't think I'll be doing that any time soon.

Since I've got the only Traveller fanzine out there right now, free or otherwise, I'm the only one that is really getting hit by this change. However this all works out, I'm just glad for whatever I can do for the Traveller community.

Give it a few days to kick around and I think you'll see things end up in your favor. Not promising anything, but I think in the end, you and Stellar Reaches will be fine.

Will do. I still haven't heard from Marc, but I have been including him on all email correspondence, so when he is able to check his gmail account, he will be able to follow the thread of emails and chime in as he sees fit.

In essence, we now have an informal Fair Use policy from Mongoose that states that any fan-created OTU material can be made available so long as it is free. Yay!
