What if grandfather came back?

I'm not sure he'd have any interest in interacting with Humaniti or the other races. He wasn't that interested in anything other than his own interests when he last was among the local stars, and then only really got involved when his children pissed him off.

Might be some weird stuff occurring though as he went about whatever business he was on...

Has anyone ever done anything with the idea that grandfather returns to the galaxy someday?

Heheh. Yeah.

It's gonna be bad for Humaniti, in the same way its bad for rats in the walls when someone refurbishes an abandoned building.

All those chirper and droyne worlds scattered across known space, just like stockpiles of raw material...

I'll eventually get around to typing up and uploading the details. Feel free to send an PM or email me in the meanwhile.

Best,
Will

He's been actively watching the Vargr. Even has 'agents' to record ( manipulate things on occasion? ) there.

IMTU, the final war was about a dispute between him and his offspring about which species from terra was best for uplifting....Grandfather chose Vargr for his long term experiment.... those pesky monkeys should be left on their own. Off spring chose monkey-boys. Grandfather ruthlessly erradicated offspring that broke away from his ideas.

In an odd way ( forgive if this sparks religion flames ), that'd make the offspring very much like Prometheus of Lucifer.

...and who's to say the offspring are all gone?...maybe they have a pocket universe too and the war isn't totally over...just in a cold period.

If he comes back, perhaps woe to humans if he feels they've contaminated his 'sample'

In a T4 adventure, an ancient did get released during ther early days of the 3I.

Since it's printed in "Marc Miller's traveller" I guess it's canon....

IMTU, one of his "Children" faked his own death, and is waiting for the appropriate time to pop out and unite the Droyne. He passes himself off as "Grandfather"

In about 1103, PC's told Yaskodray about Yaskodritz, and the sly old sports have been have a go at a droyne-hunt... (I ran SOTA, and they met GF. Then they met Yaskodritz. Then they ran back to Yaskodray. Then they wound up trying to stay the **** out of the way....)

I prefer to keep beings of such immense power out of my game, or, for the very least, keep them in the background. An invasion by the Ancients would wrack any game unless there is some wy in which ordinary mortals could effect them (such as the Babylon 5 Shadows being vulnerable to psionics).
