But, you know, Mal, there's something that seems right to me about blocky, dull, ugly ships. Though I think aircraft should be sleek, I think of spacecraft as more akin to ships. And, I have yet to see a sleek warship that didn't have me giggling (like the DDX). And US Navy resupply ships are even uglier than the warships the resupply.
But, this is definitely one of those YMMV areas.
Given that six previous versions have not satisfied everyone, what makes Marc think a seventh would work?Originally posted by kafka47:
Well, the main point of another edition of Traveller would be create a single template from which all others could source.
One could argue that the reprints have pulled all that together. But then the rules are still spread all over the place within those. Many canonistas would argue that is what CT is for. However, the way that CT is written makes it largely inaccessible and spread out over too many volumes.
Did it? I thought it did a pretty good job pulling everything together, and it was fairly straightforward.MT was made to consolidate the CT but it actually made it more complicated.
Again, other versions have done that already. GURPS and T20 certainly did that, while allowing TRaveller players to draw on a wealth of existing GURPS and D20 material. How could a new ruleset do it any more effectively?T5, it is hoped, will finally get UPPs right and build in a flexible dynamic ruleset that we can either play with or ignore.
Again, how would T5 do this better than previous versions? It also hopefully will also be a large item, but inexpensive (oxymoron, I know) to allow for a full range of possibilities within the OTU and NOTU.

Japanese Traveller sites with spiffy artwork. Or so I was hoping until someone had the audacity to post something on another topic.Originally posted by Fritz88:
What's this thread about, again?
Well, if you want to get technical...Originally posted by Malenfant:
