• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

Where are the Image Libraries?

SPM-6428-RV-2.jpg
And of course, the Mac Daddy of them all and the last of the class: Cygnus (AKA Black Swan)

See the trends in the namings of each ship? Gull, a sea bird. Albatross, Big dumb sea bird (If you describe something as an albatross around your neck or round your neck, you mean that it causes you great problems from which you cannot escape, or it prevents you from doing what you want to do. Being the son of a major criminal was an albatross around my neck.). And lastly, Cygnus (AKA Black Swan) A water fowl (A black swan is an unpredictable event that is beyond what is normally expected of a situation and has potentially severe consequences. Black swan events are characterized by their extreme rarity, severe impact, and the widespread insistence they were obvious in hindsight.).

Naming these ships is a whole back story in itself. In general, 'The development, political management and corruption plague the history of the class.'

And all these we in the image library; with ship cards and everything a person need to use them in a game. 😭 (accept the Albatross) 92 files sitting on my harddrive that I put into the Imperial Art Gallery. With exception, those posted to "https://www.travellerrpg.com/index....ll-an-interest-in-deckplans.22514/post-637166. Plus all those beauties other people did, so GMs could have inspiration and point at a piece of paper and say 'You are Here!" It makes me sad. 😭

Feel free to upload them as threads... in the art forum. (two down from Lone Star.)

Can I post a image on this place? Or should I post using the new traveller art.
Go ahead and make a new post for your art in the new place.

Aramis may want to move this thread over there too so as to consolidate this art heavy thread into that part of the forums.

It has been over a year and there has been no further information about whether or not the Image Libraries will return?
Thom was working on it, but we cannot get it imported into the new software properly. There's supposed to be a way to import that, but my involvement in the upgrade was... (paraphrasing)
Marc: Thom's going to do the upgrade to a different BBS package
Me: Sounds good, neither Thom nor I could get VB 4 working.
Thom: I'm doing it ___.
Me: Good Job, Thom!

The new software is easier to administer, not full of custom modifications by prior and current administrators, and runs on current editions of PHP and SQL.
The old software was a heavily tweaked version of VBulletin 3.8, with intentional code changes by Hunter Gordon (who created COTI), Andrew Boulton (prior lead admin), and myself. My changes to the code were all cases of "it's broke, how the bleep do I fix it?"

And eachby someone other than Hunter was due to PHP, Apache, and the SQL server being upgraded.
