Where'd Everybody go?

Lovecraft and Traveller? Catch up. I've already done that one at a convention game where the players were lulled into starting off as Solar System Parol Space Cadets.

Deep into the game, I knew I had them where I wanted them when I heard one player ask another: "Is there a sanity role in this game?"

By the by, Lovecraft's 'Yuggoth' is actualy Pluto. Too bad my players didn't recall that fact in time.

Where're
mjwest? phydaux? tjoneslo? DaveShayne? And, my god, where the HECK is Kaladorn? He was as nearly as much the lifeblood of Traveller debate as Whipsnade is (was?) now.

Ditto with Baron Saathuran, or j. churchill.

Sheeses, where's the old gang? :D

Roleplaying is getting booooring and Traveller is essentially a dead franchise these days. Off to greener pastures and more interesting things mostly

The hell you say!!

I'm gearing up for a Conan campaign that I think will take us a while. Roleplaying is alive and well at my house. Don't know about those outside of my sphere.

And, I'm sure I haven't seen my last Classic Traveller game.

Maybe some of us old ones are just a little tired of Traveller.

The hell you say!!

Traveller is awesome. It's definitely one of my favorite rpgs--if not THE favorite.

But...yeah, we've got to play other things, too. Mix it up a bit. It can't always be Traveller.

I was playing Fallout 3 for 3 months. And have taken a break.

Got. Been sitting in my game stack since it came out. I'm like that. I'll buy something that interests me, and it will sit there, sometimes for a year or two, before I play it.

Heck, I haven't made it completely through Oblivion yet!

BG, I'm not sure where everyone else is, but I went to Iraq.

Dude, if you're serving our country, I just want to take the time to thank you for your service.

Seriously.

An Ignore button?? God, I wish I had one of those in RL! I'd use that sucker so many times it would break!

It has been slow here, but RL has been a bitca.

I'm working on the premier issue of a CT fanzine, too, so my spare-time is virtually nil.

I'm sure that, given the onset of winter, the post-count will spike.

I'm looking forward to that Pluto probe's arrival in 2015 with eagerness and anticipation.

I've got a funny feeling the photos are all gonna be lots of featureless white. :) I get those all the time at the office supply store. ;)

A fanzine. When?

Stellar Reaches seems to have died a slow death.
Frontier Report? One issue.

Freelance Traveller still comes out regularly.

On the "call to Hiwg" thread someone said Starburst is online, but never replied to my post about where!

And yes, spring is here on the ranch, so I've got lots of chores to do. Takes up most of my free time.

Signs of life?

RL dropped a hammer on me lately, though I do lurk and occasionally drop a line.
I e-mailed Zeitlin about interest in a couple of articles and he never wrote back. Worth trying again?
Anyone remember the old Athlete thread from some years back? I stumbled on the notes and am actively working on it again. it's either do that or strangle the wife, and I'm too pretty to go to jail...
I will post here if there is interest.

Quiet Board?? I'm still here!! have you swallowed a red pill ..or a Blue pill?
The bright multi-colored rainbow one.

Seriously, the traffic here seems to be nul and void compared to even a year or two ago.

Did everyone migrate to Mongoose and SJGames? If so, then why? This is the main HUB for everything Traveller, in my not so humble opinion.

Simply my opinion and sentiments, but I agree. Others don't. Fair enough. That said it's been less than perfect here for a while which doesn't make it easy to stay.

It'd be nice to have Hunter more visible. For whatever reasons he isn't, but he is behind the scenes.

The site has a couple small issues. Small in my mind, perhaps not so small to fix though.

Some profilic posters here have left over the years for various reasons. Some to other fora, some simply to other pursuits. Some with explanation, some with none. Life happens and sometimes, sadly, so has death.

I haven't seen any explosion on Mongoose or GT or anywhere else corresponding to any drop off here. What I have noticed is an explosion of spammers on various fora, this one included. I swear they'll kill this internets invention...

...I seem to have lost my train of thought, unless I've hit all my points :)

Gotta go do some painting anyway, later...

...P.S. Oh yeah, one thing, and only one thing can really solve any real or percieved drop off in posts. That's posting :D You did, and so far 31 new posts in short order. Not Traveller mind you but it could be with a simple ObTrav... ;)

By the end of the year...perhaps. I can't be more specific with other, more serious RL issues piling up.

Stellar Reaches seems to have died a slow death.

I enjoyed reading the Third Imperium fanzine and am eager to find others. I enjoyed the article on the new alien species, the Blotches. Very creative writing! I believe that, if CT had more alien species (doggie-, kitty-, horsie-, lizard- and starfish-aliens aside), it would have been much more popular in its day.

I have to disagree. It WAS an interesting place. But over time it got a tad boring (Similar to the SJGames Traveller section) with some people being too inflexible and others to far off "Traveller".

Well, for whatever reason, traffic is gone. Traveller strikes me now as being stronger than ever, but there's no traffic here?

Give me a break.

Not that I count as an "everybody", but I spend more goofing off time on facebook these days than... hell... on my own forum. My spare time is divided between facebook, my forum, sjgames' forum, and here. I peek in on a few others, but facebook has seriously put a dent in time spent elsewhere.

I haven't been over to Mongoose's in awhile. Since I'm probably gearing up for some GURPS, I've been hanging out there more than I had been. The other day I noticed something that I hadn't seen before, the generic GURPS board had over 200 people viewing it at one time. That was the most I had ever seen. It was in the 220s or thereabouts, and previously the most I had even seen was in the 180s.

I've noticed this too.

Man, I could really go for a Traveller game now. But we'll see; maybe it just needs time to develop.

I've said it before, elsewhere and here (even in this very thread just above, but I'll repeat it) when such sentiments come up, a site is what the users make of it. If you want to see more posts, post more.

Maybe Traveller being strong is the key to posts dropping off. Maybe people are actually playing the game instead of playing with the game.

And Jame, if Play by Post is good for you that can be done here or through other avenues. I know I'm considering giving that another whack as Face to Face is unlikely in the extreme. But at the moment I just have too much other stuff on the go to even think beyond wanting to play :(

Not just Traveller. Ask around. The White Wolf boards seem quieter; Shadownessence is still and silent; and Hells, the Klingon language mailing list from the KLI's practically deserted.

Best thing I can recommend - endure this. Maybe things start picking up around GenCon.
