Wrap up idea

Again with the Traveller license running out for QLI, maybe the "Last Hurrah" for QLI's T20 could be making deckplans for all of the ships that player characters get as a "mustering out" benefit. I mean we arleady have the Scout. Why not have the others (Far Trader, Yatch, Corsair, and what not)? Is that too much to handle to do a PDF thereof? I am ignorant when it comes to creating PDFs having never done it myself so I am not sure about all that is involved.

Heh, after the "feedback" on the first T20 Deckplan istr Hunter swearing off ever doing it again. But there are deckplans in some of the various T20 pdfs (adventures, etc).

The issue is complicated. The license is running down (months left, less than a year) and Hunter is elsewhere. There's the time to get stuff organized and done, and still have enough time to make it available long enough to make it worth the effort.

And of course for the most part the common ships have all been done in prior (notably CT) editions and will serve well enough for T20 for most users.

It's all but certainly a no-go at this stage.

Also combined with that Traveller publishers have a big problem with Open Source concepts and doing things for free. Although, to T20's credit, they did release the Introduction and several adventures free in the beginning. And, this whole forum could be viewed as one big public service effort by QLI.

Notwithstanding, I would elements of the Gateway sourcebook**, just to be out there in the Public Domain, as a way of enriching Traveller or other goodies. To give others an indication of Traveller done right and by making it all free and accessible - everyone can use it as a learning experience and stepping stone for better things.

**licencing, money being owed, etc. and countless other things prevent this, I know, but we who believe in an Open Traveller continue to live in hope.

There is an "Open Traveller" already, Mongoose are doing it through their OGL.

For small values of "open" and "Traveller"...

Small? I think there are about 30 products by 3 or 4 small press publishers available on drivethrurpg.com for Mongoose's OGL Traveller rules. And there is the Foreven license too.

I do not recall there being that many (if any) third party releases for d20 Traveller.

The T20 compatible releases were almost entirely by already extant licensees.

Specifically: BITS, Loren Wiseman, Comstar...

To hopefully end this bunny trail ... I hope you give my first major foreven project a try once completed (due out later this year, start of next year). I'm doing my best to make it as "recognisably Traveller" as possible.
