Writing group?

Would anyone be interested in a writing critique group here?

Long ago several folks provided me geed feedback on a short story. Their comments encouraged me and made the story come out better. A writing group would give us a confirmed feedback loop for those rough drafts and blind-spot headlights.

We would need active participation; submit stories for critique and being willing to critique other's work at the level requested.

Any interest?

I would say "Yes" as well. I have a novel that I have to get back to work on. It is set in my Alternate Traveller Universe, basically Classic with some changes, mainly in ship crewing, and using the 1977 shipbuilding rules.

Very cool! I'm using the ATU atpollard cooked up for his game in the PbP section. We're expanding it as needed, and the story I just wrote happens twelve years later, involving the kids of our PCs.

PM me with an e-mail address and we can start sharing, if you want. I will usually use GoogleDocs but can also read txt, pdf, and LIbreOffice.

I really need to find an on-line place to "publish" the several Traveller based novels I have finished already...

Ask Thomas Jones-Low to be sure, but the Wiki would likely welcome your work.

If not, I will help you find a home for them.

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

If there's interest, a workspace on the BBS side can be arranged, so that the Wiki could be final versions, while the threads can be in-progress and comments.

Sounds like we have a few areas of interest:

  1. Critique
  2. Sharable locations
  3. Help publishing (paid, non-paid)

Anything else?

I would be interested. I have a few shorts done and I'm about 30% through my first novel. All set between 1130-1202. So far.

I too would be interested in this. I love reading and like to write, but never shared with anyone other than some stuff on my blog. So count me in!

Hey Aramis, interest seems to be there. I'm unsure of the "BBS" reference though. I've helped run a Fidonet on Netware BBS before, but you probably mean something else. :D

Everyone else, I'll stir the pot some more. Keep your ideas coming!

If they can easily be broken up into reasonably-sized parts, I can "serialize" them into Freelance Traveller...

This is the BBS - "Bulletin Board System"... specifically, the VBulletin system handling this conversation and several other.

My definition of "interest" means "moot members giving general agreement within the moot spire area of the board."

Ah, cool. Well, not sure how to let the moot spire vote, so I'll just hang out and await results.

Thanks!
