Your single most important piece of kit

Cells phones that are also links to the web and navigation aids, of course. Which was never the case when Traveller came out. Back then the mega rich fiction characters on TV had car phones in the back of their limos so we understood how mega rich they were.

Real life in my wife and my four wheel drives now? Up front pistols, spare mags, LED flashlights, charger, multitools (my wife uses the Leatherman Juice they made for a few years for women, wine opener and fingernail scissors plus normal tools).

In the back large are trunk bags-- Good First Aid kits from Adventure Medical Solutions, fire extinguishers, small tool kits, jumper cables, boots/hats/gloves/snow pants, water bottle case, breakfast bars, US Mil casualty heat blankets (an insulated form of the shinny blankets in many kits), small tarps, small saw and fire paste with lighters, 550 cord, good paper towels and trash bags.

My wife was mildly distressed about a baby left in small car last summer in the next office lot over, so I got her a window hammer which she keeps in the glove box. I can't think we would need it, and she has a real hammer in the tool kit, but it makes her feel better.

This meets almost 100 percent of our needs. Never used the fire ext, blankets, food (yuck), clothes, or saw. I have to replace the water and small bandaids in the kits, paper towels, and bags every 6 months or so, more so in my wife's case because people approach her more.

I would think PCs would need much the same. I assume at TL12+ clothes can do a lot more in different ranges. I always list some sort of multitool in inventory, which I assume at TL12+ also starts fires, cuts wood, welds/gives adhesion. I assume some sort of easy small light in addition to PRIS goggles would be too easy/common to have to list.

A pistol of some kind unless too high of a law level, then PCs would need a very concealed body pistol.

Space going PCs would also need some sort of shop suit that gives air to survive to to get a real suit. PCs would be crazy not to have a tent, some sort of breath mask and gills, and survival still in every ship's craft and a/r or grav/surface vehicle.

While presumably I would have it on my computer, I would also probably have a hard copy of the book-that-should-not-be-named

I think my single most important piece of kit is my Diamond TAS Membership card
(You know, the one with integrated holographic smartphone with map-box and credit card function)

I rolled up a character for Brett's PBEM game who has a TAS Membership.

Sadly, not that useful, since we're (a) in Reavers' Deep, and (b) playing in the TNE milieu.

;-) ;-)
