Zhodani Strike Frigate Build (WIP) - I need some help ! (Calling all Science Guys)

Can a human move 100m in 30 seconds?
Can a combat loaded infantryman move 100m in 30 seconds?
Can a vehicle?

If you're "carpet bombing" a grid sector using a meson artillery unit, you'll be able to catch stuff that isn't moving ... no problem.
Catch a formation of opposition capable of "scattering" and remain mobile ... that's harder. Not impossible, but harder than hitting stationary stuff.
From orbit if I was harassing and imperial frontier system the Targets in order: Hig Port C2 Nodes, Power Nodes, Military hard targets: space ports, barracks, armories, get the drift.
A TL-14 100 Dt PA bay is factor 9?
You are right I must have made a mistake last night when looking at the sheet but i had it right

Meson artillery is TL-15, and the Zho are generally limited to TL-14. So no meson artillery for the Zho...
Hence to level the playing field - literally - using orbital meson bays is the only way they can bring them to the field of battle.

I have yet to see a battlefield meson screen that I can remember, although city meson screens are mentioned.

Agreed, at ridiculous cost: 200 EP = 400 Dt power plant at MCr 1200 per bay.


You quoted different rof, so I just went with the continuous fire mode.
The RoFs I quoted are from the rules.
By Striker space combat meson weapons would have the same RoF as meson artillery: 1 per 30 s.

If we use TNE FF&S assumptions (optimally RoF 100 per 30 min) it would be 1 shot per 18 s.

Did it I have 8fib went to factor 4 Meson and Nuclear , Dropped my M Drive 4 and Kept agility-3

3 Batteries of 2 Dual Beam Laser Turrets
All factors considered, you would probably be better off using dual fusion guns instead of dual beam lasers ... IF ... you're going to have any EP consuming weaponry beyond the particle accelerator bay.

Armour 5, to prevent internal explosions and keep the M-drive safe from non-nukes.
M-drive 5, to allow breaking off by acceleration from the reserve, sacrificing a fighter if necessary.
Agility-1, to keep some manoeuvrability in combat. Armour and screens are the primary defences.
Single high-factor batteries to be able to absorb many hits.

The idea here is the traditional: To be able to kill anything smaller, and run away from anything bigger. The only thing to worry about is missile bays and spinals, and then you just run away to fight another day.

Some extra staterooms and cargo for long missions.
Jump fuel in demountable tanks, so you can trade jump range for extra cargo space.

I suspect I underestimate the size of the carried craft though, so that extra cargo space is probably a pipe dream...

A five minute bombardment is 10 such circles
Gets turned to rubble. Not quite the same, and nothing that conventional artillery can't do much more cheaply. A meson gun's awesomeness is in it's ability to do it without needing LOS of any kind (though it still needs fire direction, so while the gun is magical the fire control is not).

For sorting out large areas atomics are better if you can deliver them. So meson guns to take out any point-defence, then nuke 'em 'till they glow.
