Ready for your personal Robot?

Spinward Scout

SOC-14 5K
Baron
Or how we could build a personal robot with the tech we have now...

First, start with this:

Animatronic-roommate

Mix in some of this:

Voice Activated R2-D2

and this:

14 Language Talking Translator

this:

Emotive Robot

some of this, of course:

Robot Girlfriend

and even this:

Robotic Floor Washer

Especially the part where it goes and plugs itself back in to recharge.

And possibly house it all in something like this:

Remote controlled hovering space surfer

Without the surfer, of course.

Or this:

Home Sentry

Or even this:

Segway Robotic Mobility Platform

Give it an extended battery life and maybe even Flexible solar panels to help it maintain a charge while in operation, and you could have a pretty cool first iteration personal robot.

The hard part is getting all of these tech companies to work together to do something like this.

:oo:

Why do I want my friend to look like a Tonka Truck's wheels?

I'd rather it all be packaged in the robotic girlfriend, as soon as she learns how to walk; that way I can use the HOV lanes if I need to and not get in trouble....

I've got me one of these robots occupying a corner of my apartment. An incredibly simply design, and not a very smart 'bot; but does it do what it's advertised to do? Oh, Hellz yeah!

Now I just gotta find another robot willing to schlep the used cat lit bag out to the dumpster, and I've pretty much got the whole thing out of my hands.

I have a roomba, too. So I guess that means I've already got two domestic 'bots in my house, although none of them look anything like Rosie Jetson (well, maybe the roomba, a little). I also have two of those old biobug "robots," although I don't know if they count, since all they really do is lurch around, chirp at each other, and make the cats go berserk.

You can just carry her to the car, tho, right? I don't know, tho - I'm a little creeped out by that one. He really needs to get himself a real girlfriend. I can just see the robotic ⌧ pages showing up on my Google searches.

Here's another cool housing (there's a video):

Bladestar

This thing has an autopilot mode that lets it avoid furniture and people.
