Dragons

That thing? Thats just an over grown Droyne with pyrokinesis. The party psion Mind-blasted it into a drooling non entity.

Cryton, I can see gaming with you; as the Ref unveils a live speciman of a medieval interpretation on fossils left unearthed by nature, but with wings and incendiary breath, you say "It's all in your head. It's just some suggestion being broadcast at us!"

All the while as I look to my left I see our high energy trooper become battle-dress flambe. :D

An oversized Droyne, huh? Pryokinesis, huh? Well, mister scout with a portable lab strapped to his backpack, you go ahead and to get some tissue samples of the thing, or, heck, try to talk to it if you think it's intelligent. But, if I were there? I'd cringe behind a boulder like the coward that I am :)

Hey, I'm the guy who has fire breathing dragons as a fixture on the hunting scene at Regina... of course, Wypoc's insidious atmosphere will kill you if the critter breaks the seals on your suit, so don't miss, and bring the BIG (but expendable) guns!

Oh, and yes, the Dragons are protosentient psionicists IMTU. They hunt by life-sense.

Then I guess the suggested headgear to hunt them is the psionic helmet .

After all, there must be some of them arround since they became fashion while the FFW (JTAS 9 page 30)

Cower behind your rock. I am teleporting back to the ship. I know when bigger guns, starship guns, are needed. That an a tube of slow drug for our poor crispy battledress wearing party member. :smirk:

BlackBat; just out of curiosity, what's the writeup on an F-15 going up against a Red Ancient Dragon anyway?

A man after my own heart!

I have one world where there are really big dragons as well as small ones. They fly with the aid of TK and of course pyrokinesis for the breath (as well as hydrogen).

The big ones are clever but not sophont. The little ones, the ones that spacers keep as pets, are extremely intelligent and sophont. Not that they let anybody know it...

Of course, I haven't decided on what happened to them after the events of the Shattering (IMTU) made psionics extremely dangerous to use (the power increased, but it also burns out parts of the user's brain each time they use it).

How about an F-4 Phantom II (undead jet fighter )? Armed with REAL magic missiles :smirk:

Seriously, this has probably been done before, but someone with more capable hands at authorship for things like Dragon Stats would be well served to submit a writeup on Dragons to JTAS or something. My guess is that it may have already been done, but it might be fun.

I don't know about an F-15, but I'll take an F-106 with a Genie, for the win!

Better use a Voodoo: then you get two in case the first one just makes it angry.

Actually, it was an F/A-18A Hornet. At least, that is what the blurb inside the cover of that particular Dragon Magazine issue said.

And no, no back-story was presented.

Hmmm... A "Genie" missile? Voodoo? Phantoms? Sounds fun!

But were the dragons in the jet's continuum... or was the fighter in the dragons' world? In the latter case, tactical nukes might not work quite the same as expected.

Rick Cook addressed some of this in one of his books of the Wizardry series.

It was slightly amusing but made sense in his fictional worlds.
