Drawing ships.

Looks very RosCosmos there, Dragoner... (not that that's actually a negative; there's a certain gravitas of looking like real craft.)
Thanks! You're correct, definitely influenced by the Soyuz. I like the Orion's collector layout also; I also look at how the Dragon, and Starship are laid out too, as I like the aesthetic of real spacecraft.
@Dragoner

One thing about your design I would change: Move the 'Quarters' deck up to 'Service/Galley' location. It stands to reason the crew should be closer to the Bridge and controls in case of emergencies.

Added bonus: Here is a design you can play around with and use in your book if you like ;)

I have other 'parts and decks' for tail sitter as well, if you want to take a peek. :giggle:
That is a really great deck plan!

I was thinking of the Service/Galley area as a "ready room" area, though quarters might be better moved up, with the only downside is that would also put passengers next to the bridge as well, make it a little less secure.

@Dragoner Oh don't make me get started 🤔!

Background: Flykiller posted a medical ship and I had to put my own spin on it. Two days or so, I had it up in the Image Library.

You've got my creative juices flowing and I have enough spare parts laying around on the hard drive, I could whip out my own version of your design in a matter of say, ruffly 3 to 5 hours? Maybe less?

The point here to stay in line with the spirit of the threat: Seeing other artist's works have some influence over other people's work. They inspire people to "Hey, I can do that.' or 'That gives me an idea!'

You are welcome to do that if you wish, mostly as a vessel, the interiors I think of as being just light partitions, even the decks mostly of a lighter material, and the thicker "bulkhead" material, being only around every three decks in intervals, unless it is an important feature. Often I have made the bridge able to be ejected from the craft, so as to act as a lifeboat. One thing I don't usually do is use the easy grav tech for deck plates, and inertial compensation. I mean at one point I did have more rules, though at this point, I try to run it as close to the rules as written and only do a hand wave and say it is whatever, just for my own sanity, like "this is a fusion rocket" or something.

Mostly, I am intimidated by what I see here.
I drew spaceships as a child. I never gave a lot of thought to what they looked like or how they were arranged on the inside. I only drew what I imagined they looked like on the outside. Most of my inspiration came from Space 1999 and the Thunderbirds.
Then I discovered Traveller and became obsessed with interior space allocation.
I use 13.5 cubic meters to one dT in my drawings and exclusively draw in AutoCad these days. I'm not very good. When I see the talent on display here, with 3d CAD imaging it almost scares me away from even looking at my own stuff again

@Terquem Post them, you might be better than you think. I have 'issues' posting my work because, I think that some are not worthy of the praise I get. Some of my designs are crap and I know it! But I post them because some of see them and be inspired by them. Besides, you won't know until you try.

@Dragoner (Grabbing hair and pulling) AAAAA I have most, even maybe, all of what you're asking drawn because I was doing a project for another sci-fi RPG (Covering my mouth and coughing, 'starfrointers'?) It wouldn't take me very long to use elements from those plans to make a ship base off yours. It would have a few more deck, bells and whistles and a larger deck size. If you don't it to be public and posted here, send me PM. I offer this because, this would be your design I'm playing around with.

(In the background, people start turning their suspicious eyes toward me. One of them wearing official Traveller Merch raises a wicked looking finger. And Just like the end scene for the Invasion of the Body Snatcher, shrieks "Heretic!" I take off running as the angry mob forms...)

I'd say go for it.

Go ahead, I am fine with it being public, and we can always use more vertical oriented ships, though I like all them with a deck plan, makes ships really come alive imo.

If you can do 2d CAD, 3D isn't that much harder. Doesn't AutoCAD support 3D?

But not all 3D software is actually CAD.

(Beating off the angry mob with a crowbar) I'll get started right after I finish here (panting loudly) No guarentees, but I'll post in a new thread before the week ends. I'm kinda busy right now with another project (Really) and I have Doctor's Appointment tomorrow. So I can't pull an allnighter when I get the creative juices flowing, like I normally do. (Beside, I've got someone biting my ankle right now.) I also want to make the design different that I have already laid out. I don't like cut, coping and pasting. I do really like building unique ships.

@Grav_Moped You Expanse junkies are all the same! :sneaky:
Honestly, I haven't read it, and have only seen clips of the series. :D

That said, the first time played Traveller back in the early '80s, the ref was using his own ATU (and starship build rules rules -- big Piper and Chandler influence there) and the ships were almost all tailsitters (prolate spheroids for streamlined hulls, spheres for unstreamlined, and oblate spheroids for the small craft).

@Grav_Moped EE Smith introducted me to those type of ships. Old timey movies with tailsitters seal the deal for me. I just don't like doing circular hulls, THEY ARE HARD TO DRAW.😭 But they are still as cool as the first time I saw them. Why, because we can build them with the tech we got on hand! (Sixty's kid here, when we dreamt big and made them come true!) Saddly Elon, is the only person still dreaming big...

Yeah, I had my dad's SF collection to work through too. :)

Circular hulls are easier if you have a computer (I've got a couple I've posted here that I did up in MS Paint; I think you've seen them) but the math used to be difficult (but the internet and Excel are my friends now so it's not so bad...)

Type S as a Tailsitter Prolate Spheroid (deck plans start at post #59)

Shugushaag (600Td J5 Freighter, LBB2 2nd Ed.) Description in first post, deck plans later on, pdf summary with deck plans in post #49 (pdf thanks to poster @Hairy Jim DeGriz )

Can you find the seven dwarves in the ship names? @Grav_Moped did all of the work, I'm just an analogy editor, without a known name. Maybe I should publish under Stainless Steel ROUS?

Not noted in my writeup, but the class-leader ships for the variants were:
Yacht: Lovshaag*
Escort: Shaagvon
Non-listed external cargo version (1000Td, 2x 200Td external permanent pods): Shigumshaag.

(as a side note, some of the Escorts were equipped with jettisonable cargo pods and used as as Q-ships posing as Shigumshaags)

*Lovshaag, baby Lovshaag. (Seats about 20).

Gotta get back to the Shugushaag....

we can always use more vertical oriented ships
All the cool kids are doing it these days.

Umm, you didn't share that with me earlier, but I took the liberty of naming all 18 ships.

County Claire... or Planet Claire? (Youtube)

(Sadly, there is no Claire in the OTU. There should be, though!)
