10 questions to ask Joe Fugate

This is probably why I went with the slightly smaller displacement, and I also believe I considered armor to be external to the ship, and thus increased its external dimensions, rather than reducing its internal dimensions.

Errr, wow I realize I'm a few years late to weigh in on this, but that really was the reason way back then it's erroneous reasoning. That it's external doesn't make the volume go away; if you don't include the volume 'cost' for armor then your ship would be over its volume 'budget'. A 100 ton ship with 5 tons worth of armor would become a 105 ton ship. Now your M-Drive doesn't work at the specified rating. Your J-Drive also won't work as designed. (not enough drive units allocated). You would end up having to increase fuel requirements as well.

Maybe this question has been answered in the past 100 pages or so...

Has Joe given us a full disclosure of "The Black Duke"?

Yep, I found that outline on the TML years ago. I was hoping Joe might be able to fill it in a little more. Alas.

My response to Joe Fugate?

I *am* one of the ones who got into Traveller with TNE, and that's why I love it.

But then again, I was 12/13 at the time it came out and wouldn't have had access to stuff that was older than MT.

I just came across this thread and loved reading through it. What a great find! Digest Group really pushed Traveller forward with their professionalism, creativity and energy. Reading Joe's posts on those years brought back some very fond memories of that era.

If anyone is interested in the book Joe talks about "Forbiden Archeology", it turns out it's an abridged version of a book called "Hidden History of the Human Race", which was published by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, and dedicated to His Divine Grace AC Ghaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Now the Krishna movement follow Vedic scriptures that state that humans have lived on earth for a 'Day of Brahma' which works out at over 4 billion years. I just thought it would be useful to know the motivation for the book's claims, and it's agenda. This is not a book that's casting a fresh, unprejudiced eye on the evidence. It's authors have a very specific pre-conceived agenda they are trying to push.
