MGT Only: 200-ton escort corvette and SDB

Brandon C

SOC-13
These are the smallest proper warships IMTU.

200-ton escort corvette

This is a small version of the 400-ton corvette (patrol cruiser) and is used mostly for anti-piracy and scouting duties.

The escort corvette has maneuver drive-D, jump drive-B and power plant-D, giving Jump-2 and 4G acceleration. 56 tons of fuel supports the power plant for 4 weeks and one Jump-2. Two fuel processors are installed. A Model 3/fib computer and basic military electronics is located in the bridge. There are 10 staterooms and 2 emergency low berths, An armoury and briefing room are also provided. The ship has two hardpoints, with two triple turrets. One is armed with beam lasers and the other with missile racks. 36 ready missiles are carried. A 20-ton launch is carried for boarding actions and general duties. Cargo capacity is 10 tons. The ship is streamlined and has armor 4.

Crew consists of a commander, pilot, navigator, medic, engineer, 2 gunners, 2 small craft crew and 10 marines. The ship costs MCr 132.35 with munitions and small craft.

200 ton system defense boat

This spacecraft serves in similar roles to the escort corvette, but has more powerful weapons and no jump drive.

The SDB has maneuver drive-e and power plant-D, giving 5G acceleration. 20 tons of fuel supports the power plant for 4 weeks. One fuel processor is installed. A Model 3/fib computer and basic military electronics is located in the bridge. There are 9 staterooms and 2 emergency low berths, An armoury is also provided. The ship has two hardpoints, with one triple turret armed with beam lasers and a small missile bay with 96 missiles. A 10-ton customs runabout is carried for boarding actions and general duties. Cargo capacity is 10 tons. The ship is streamlined and has armor 8.

Crew consists of a commander, pilot, navigator, medic, engineer, 2 gunners, runabout pilot and 4 marines. The ship costs MCr 127.59 including munitions and small craft.

10-ton customs runabout

This light craft is used for boarding actions and general duties. It has maneuver drive-sC and powerplant-sC, providing 6G acceleration. A cockpit is installed with a Model 1/fib computer and standard sensors. A single fixed pulse laser is installed. There are four passenger couches and an airlock. Cargo is 0.45 tons. The craft is streamlined and has armor 4. Cost is MCr 9.32.

Basic armed protection...You'd be surprised how law abiding the average law abiding citizen stays when someone with a gun is standing there. the two vessels are perfectly functional. I am assuming they have some armor wrapped around the hull.

Once again You and I built ships that are very similar....
in my version I went with a bit more speed, and used a particle beam, and a laser/sandcaster to make it a bit more lethal. No one wants to glow in the dark, and a bit of sand can go a long way when the other guy is probably armed with a battery of lasers, and missiles at best :D.

Armor is at the end of the paragraphs with the physical descriptions. I did forget the costs and edited those in. I'm using a variation on the ship format from the CT Starter Set.

These ships are expected to encounter pirates and light warships, which will not have heavy weapons or armor. The smallest of my (human) designs with a particle beam bay is 2,000 tons.

ah there it is....

I can see your logic there. I tend to limit particle beams to larger ships, military vessels, or ships designed specifically to destroy other ships, rather than defend themselves.

I do like the design,
It really isn't needed for a small escort to be loaded for bear,or armored to the maximum, only enough of a punch to give less determined attackers a reason to find another system to try their luck...and survive largely intact if the other guy wants to fight.
