Printed book won't be out for a while. When it is released, it will likely be a single volume (which will make it about the size of the THB).

Maybe of no value to you but have you looked at POD printers to get books out lulu.com is one and the quality is very good.

Yup that is something I will look into. I've used POD once before and it worked pretty well.

Earthdawn Classic is being done via POD through Lulu - what puts me off is that the hardback versions of the two corebooks (about 574 pages each iirc) would cost me about C$75 apiece including shipping. I dunno how big 2320AD would be in print, but if it'd cost the same then the price won't exactly encourage people to buy it.

Yeah that is the biggest problem with POD, cost per unit. Can't get the margins you can with a standard print run.

What I'd prefer to do is bootstrap a standard run with the sales of the PDF version. But I will still look into POD and its feasibility.

There's another thing to consider - do the playtesters who've contributed a lot get anything for their work beyond their name in the credits? (and I'm not asking for my benefit - I don't recall doing too much that actually made it into the books, all I remember contributing much to was a long tangential discussion about star catalogues)

The cost of a book the size of Earthdawn on lulu is around £15 to make the rest is markup.
So 2320AD in hardback would be a similar price, I would suggest softback and hardback versions and let the buyer decide.

I'm compiling a list, both of playtesters in general and those who specifically provided considerable assistance. I just have to check my notes.

If someone was to buy the PDF's but like myself want the hard copy will there be somekind of trade in reduction ?
I know from an earlier post of yours that a free upgrade will be in place but thats just for the PDF's right ?

Any chance that this price still stands ;)
