Leather? How about clear perspex or even stainless steel? That would be much more appropriate.

Indeed, I keep my playtest stuff in an aluminum (aluminium) folder. Looks very neat indeed.

Happy to pay $$$ for any hardback edition. Perhaps even $$$$.

Hey Hunter!

Welcome back!

I suppose since you're about to release 2320 you don't need to worry about fixing the moot link to the playtest files, but if it looks like it's running long this week, and the link problem is just a quick HTML fix, could you swing it? Some of us are rabid... ;)

(It's not just the 2320 playtest files that are unaccessible right now, but those are what's appropriate to this topic... LOL)

Well, I sure will not pay a singel $ for the hardcover.

But a certain amount of € is already marked for either a Hard- or a Softcover 2320AD. And I agree, StainlessSteel and a rat's tail as a page-marker would be better alternative than leather

IIRC the latest incarnation of the Judge Dredd RPG (by Mongoose IIRC?) had a limited edition with a metal cover. But that, like all of these limited editions, was just silly. Cost a fortune, and weighed a ton too.

But was it delightful? Did it have bullet-holes?

Better than the Pentapod limited edition. I'll leave that cover up to your imagination...

My favourite book by far is the anniversary 'Call of Cthulhu' rules. Didn't cost that much. Leather cover with embossed elder sign. Best rpg purchase ever. I do think they're worth the money because not only gamers but collectors buy them too. Just my opinion.

Yes - I have the same edition. Absolutely great. I also bought the 'good' edition of In Nonine (the white cover) which is also nice.

For certain games, I'll spend what it takes to get a collector's edition. 2320AD would be one of those. A nice edition of the THB would also gain my hard earned cash.

13 Feb 2320: The first incarnation was designed to keep dust away from the book. The cover was a living creature that secreted a weak digestive acid to turn the dust (mostly human skin material) into nutrients.

22 Feb 2320: A bright Pentapod marketing assistant noticed that books in long-term storage often suffered from the bites of insects and rodents. So a stronger acid was developed and now the book cover also possessed tentacles (disguised to look like stitching on the binding) to prevent repeat attacks and to hold the prey while digestion occurs.

1 Mar 2320: After a flurry of reports that cats, dogs, and even infants were vanishing without a trace, the Pentapods recall their Deluxe Edition 2320 rulebooks and replace them with simple metal covers. The marketing assistant has since been remitted for reabsorbtion on the Pentapod homeworld.

5 Sep 2320: A large number of recalled 2320 books are dumped onto the Kafer homeworld...

The cover and outer page of both books in my 2300ad set wore away many years ago. The supplements with an actual cover have held up a little better, but I would really prefer a hardcover. Of course, I will take whatever I can get.

Sadly, My editions of T2K, T2300, Traveller and 2300AD are all intact. I would've loved the opportunity to wear them down by using them in games but my group (the same one I've had for 25 years) are ardent cthulhu & D&D fans. They'll play 2-3 games and then want to go back to RQ, Cthulhu or D&D.*
Ignorant TL 1 savages!!

*I should point out that I'm the GM and I love these games... would be nice to try others though. :-(

I recently picked up some mint-condition copies of both Traveller:2300 and 2300AD off ebay (recently=last few years) and I'm really pleased. My original editions were worn out through extensive play. I'm really looking forward to running 2320 and wearing the heck outta that version too. Hopefully the stainless steel cover will protect it (still dreaming).

Hunter would it not be better to wait until the final version is complete until you release the PDF's, people have waited this long now so a tad more time is not that bad.

I'm a little concerned about how it won't be a final version (Hunter said layout and artwork will change). For starters, I wouldn't want to print it out and blow all that paper and ink if it's going to change again later on. And would people still be able to update it to the final version when that comes out?

Also, releasing it as three sub-books is fine if the game will be playable with the first one, but if we just have part of what we need to play in the setting then it's basically just going to gather virtual dust til the other parts are out.

Most importantly, I'm also worried that Hunter may suddenly disappear unexpectedly again (and we have no reason as yet to believe that won't happen again), in which case we'll be waiting forever for parts 2 and 3 to come out.

I just don't want to see this rushed for the sake of getting it out. I'd much rather have a single complete physical book for something like this...
