A Random Subsector

Jame,

I simply provided the names. Feel free to pick and choose as you wish, as it is your subsector, after all. ;)

If you insist on me making the placements, I'd suggest the following for a nice Greco-named cluster:

0604 E558449-6 GG Thales
0605 C120110-C GG Ptolemy
0702 C466A99-A S, GG Diogenes
0705 B998533-A N Aurelius
0802 B459457-B S, GG Socrates
0803 B9B7557-B N, GG Plato

Hope this helps,
Flynn

One question, is there Ancient (either OTU or IMTU version) in this universe? That will decide if the inhabitats are native or transplants.

[Edit] Just read the note about native human. It's still a good question if they are true natives or transplants that evolved.

I found a typo in this entry

0508 C33F663-8 S, GG Heldensburg

I doubt a planet can have 150% hydrographic.

Also I did enter the UWPs into Heaven and Earth, which developed a subsector map. Except where noted all systems have 111 for the PBG and G5V stars as placeholders.

Sometime today or tonight I'll post the SEC file and GIF map.

They're not true, evolved-on-planet humans, just transplants that evolved. And I think there are Ancients, and they did some sort of genetic engineering (at least on this world) to have several different kinds of humans (think D&D for everything that can breed with humans, then include dwarves, gnomes and halflings). The fact that there are several other kinds of non-human there is entirely coincidental.

Typo corrected: 0508 C335663-8 S, GG Heldensburg

So as you can see, any reports giving our honored neighbor Heldensburg a hydrographic statistic of 150% are incorrect and are being updated. The offender has been punished by two-month exile on Dijoux.

OK, I'll nominate Orville and Wilbur for 0105 and 0106, and Joseph and Jacques for 0203 and 0204 (because of the gas giants).

And, 0110 should be named Bree (not "brie").

If you can figure out where those names come from, let me know.

George,

You may as well name the following worlds in your copy of the subsector UWP data, assuming Jame approves:

0604 Thales
0605 Ptolemy
0702 Diogenes
0705 Aurelius
0802 Socrates
0803 Plato

It'll clear up a few of those "unnamed" worlds.

Hasta,
Flynn

Approved.

Now: There's one state in this subsector, the something League, Coalition or Consortium. It came about after Larissa and the other A-ports regained star travel and started building ships; while it's remembered that humans came to this area on their own and then had a Hiatus, no-one knows much else. There are some independent worlds in the area, one (Lianna) because it has higher technology than the rest and the others because the interstellar state doesn't want to

Now, what is the name of the government, and is it a League, Coalition, or Consortium?

Larissa, of course*! But there are administrative centers at the other two A-ports and those B-ports which have naval bases, just in case Larissa falls.

*:This is entirely why something like "Larissa Consortium" will not be used. I want it to be pan-subsector, as it were.

How about the Genesis Coalition? (in reference to a growing and expanding polity that is just now making their way into the stars)

Or the Destiny League? (in reference to manifest destiny, if the polity is expansionistic)

Or the Cerberus Consortium? (in reference to the three-headed dog that guards the underworld, if the polity is defensive and slow-growing in nature)

Just some thoughts,
Flynn

Also note: I am putting a link to the first page of this (three pages so far, neat!) up on the SJ Games Free Forum in the Traveller section. That version of this topic can be found here.

I wrote a QB4.5 program for MTU that generates worlds for Traveller according to the original Traveller rules found in books 3 and 6, with the non-canonical additions or modifications of:

- An environmental rating based on SIZ, ATM, and HYD that directly affects the population score (F through M, between HYD and POP).
- A rule that no government (GOV = 0) can exist where there is no population (POP = 0).
- A rule that no laws can exist (LAW = 0) where there is no population (POP = 0).
- A rule that no technology can exist (TEC = 0) where there is no population (POP = 0).
- A rule that spaceport and starport types depend upon the tech level, and therefore must be rolled after TEC.
- A rule that no starport, naval base, or scout base can exist if the tech level is less than 7, which is the minimum tech level required for space flight.
- A trade classification for psionics ("Ps").

The results look something like this 40-system spread:

1. NOW YOU MUST CONNECT NAMES AND PLANETS, PLUS GIVE A FEW SENTENCES ABOUT A FEW!

2. How do you determine TL?

cool that looks nicer then mine
where can we get it?

i love qb4.5 and make
my traveller stuff in that too...

JAME:
TL is a combo of all the world building rules
added/sub up and processed in book 3...

leaving the name off and no sentence allows
the GM greater creativity in customizing
the sub-sector to HTU...
