I'll start the process off by nominating DTU for D20 Traveller Universe. YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary)
I'll suggest "20TU" , say it as twenty-two. Have you given this any thought yet Hunter?

Do you mind, far-trader, if I suggest the other way around... "TU20" (Two-Twenty)... :D

What's wrong with the T20 we've been using?

They want a acronym to add TU (Traveller Universe)
to so it sound like GTU and other acronyms that are in currents uses for other game systems of Traveller

D'oh, yeah I could'a made that clearer, thanks Chron. It started with a typical newbie question "What is IMTU?"

Certainly nothing wrong with T20. Like Chron said we're just looking to tag TU on it, maybe we're just bored waiting for T20?

btw Chron did you get in on the TNE PBEM thing? Just curious what your handle there is if you did. Sorry if you didn't.

Nah I didnt apply I was concerned with how I would be able to do it and how fast the game would go and other stuff

Besides I wouldnt even know which race to choose or even how to play Traveller what the skills are or racial attributes and such are thats why I cant wait till T20 comes out I hope they give a service class like navy in their next review or other species I can only hope I know nothing of the traveller game it just seemed so cool what sold me was the vargr I mean in another scifi game I looked at that was space based they didnt have races really that appealed to me and I just saw the vargr it looked like a cool species thats not human so I have been very curious about Traveller and T20 sounded like a good place to start I'm Traveller info starved now enough of my ramblings ;)

I don't think this classification will be able to be applied. The main problem is that the use of the D20 rules is not necessarily changing the Traveller Universe.

I mean, GTU means not just the use of the GURPS rules, but also the use of the alternate history of the Imperium in 1116 and on that was introduced along with the GURPS adaptation of the rules.

Using D20 does not tie you to a specific time-line. Hunter has said that the T20 book does not have 'any' setting info in it so I can't see how it could be referred to as a Universe ( in the classification sense). It appears to be Universe neutral.

In fact, it sounds as if Hunter et. al. are looking to the recent 'past' of CT for their setting (around 1000) and not to revise the history of that period, but rather to expound upon it.

If I am wrong, and the classification is about the rules used within a game, then T20 sounds good enough. But if it is to indicate the time-line or future-history used within a game, then there isn't a real good label as T20 seems to be Universe independent.

The official T20 setting is IY1000.

So... How about M1kTU ;)
Klatu verado M1kTU? :D </font>[/QUOTE]the really bizarre thing is I didn't immediately recognise the quote as my dim memory of the film (from watching it about aged 8) was "Klatu barado niktu!" ;)

Okay, let's all take cheap shots at my typing now... hey, line up... get your cheap shots here...

That'll teach me to read before I post...

So there isn't a variant universe clause in the licence like GT? Oh well as my momma used to say, "Official is as official does." She also used to say, "Life is like a 50 kg box of dynamite. Heavy, awkward and likely to blow up in your face."

T20 is a set of rules designed to allow you to play in the TRaveller universe... we don't have any nbeed to create a special version of that universe, so we didn't....

T20 is the *rules* - the setting is the OTU. No distinction need be made regarding the setting....

After what I went through with figuring out the "GURPS:Traveller" version of the Trav Universe, I am glad that we can just use the existing material.

Their starship designs were way off (how many hexes they covered), the formula's for creating your own sector/universe using the Traveller info (jump speeds etc) made me feel like I was back in calculus again, they put descriptions of a ship in one book but the plans in another, etc.

I am looking for a great set of rules to play Traveller using the d20 mechanic.
