aliens from fiction in Traveller/Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials

BwapTED

SOC-13
I've checked out a copy of Barlowe's Guide to ETs

Has anybody else here seen this book?

A few initial thoughts:

Dirdir might make a good substitute for Aslan.

Old Ones make good 'Precursors.'

I have a copy I bought when it came out. If you do the uplifted stuff, the Dilbian is pretty much that. Adult males are 3 meters tall - you are going to need a bigger starship.

The sketches at the back have lot of things that could be fun, including several that look a lot like the Bwaps.

The foldout in the middle has the relative sizes, so that's nice.

Barlow's Guide to Extraterrestrials is definitely worth getting. I think that I have 3 copies of it in various places.

Seen it? yes.

Interesting, but not of much use to me. Very pretty. Never bought it.

I have quite a number of SF art books that are of no use to me but I enjoy them nonetheless. Some I've had 40+ years and still bring out to peruse on occasion. So I suppose they are of use to me after all :)

You might also like Expedition by Wayne Barlowe. Some of the creatures will seem familiar as he designed critters in the movie Avatar.

Hmm, I always have liked the Dilbians. They would make for a very interesting Tech Level 2 Society for Traveller. Dilbia would also make for a great planet to adventure on, even without the Dilbians.

Absolutely. I can't remember the name of the aliens that I like... thin, light blue, aristocratic looking... They have appeared in a couple settings I've run.

I also picked up some other books like Barlowe's which were pretty cool.

[Dang, now I have to find my box of retro sci-fi in the basement...]
