All things Zhodani

Aren't they all nuts because of the Empress Wave?
The Imperium were using personality overlay technology to hide agents within the Consulate years before the concept of an Empress Wave appeared - alongside Virus, HEPlaR becoming the standard maneuver drive etc.
MgT have retconned it into their 3I setting, and MWM has hinted at its existence within his 3I setting as detailed in Agent of the Imperium.

One thing I've noticed reading through this thread is that the general consensus seems to be that the Nobility will abuse their power and status over the Proles/Intendants.

I'm just wondering how that makes sense when the Nobles/Intendants tend to invade the minds of proles in their proximity. You'd think with intimate knowledge of the feelings of others would make such callousness and aloofness hard to maintain over an extended period.

The general consensus has bought into Imperial propaganda.

It is well worth watching MWM's interviews on youtube and listening to his podcast. The sections where he talks about the Zhodani culture are enlightening.

Suffice to say no, the intendents and the nobility do not invade the minds of proles, unless you want them to in your Traveller universe :)

Here is a link to the podcast, Zhodani stuff at 53:15+

That sounds like something a Zho would say. Anyone have the INI's anonymous tip hotline handy? :D

It's probably got something to do with me seeing the Imperials as the bad guys from the early days of the setting any not buying into the Zhodani as evil empire Imperial propaganda.
