We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

In the Lazarus Long books, or at least in Time Enough For Love, mention is made of people eventually becoming bored of living, even when physically healthy. People are living for several centuries due to both selective breeding for longevity, and many different treatments and therapies. Lazarus Long is about 2100 years old, but no one else has ever bothered living more than about half that time. They just lose interest in living.
Instead of an ongoing process of delaying the aging process, posit a one-time treatment that stops the aging process permanently, but also results in permanent sterility. I suspect many people would choose to freeze their age at 18 or 20, rather than wait and be creaky and arthritic for a thousand years.
..anagathics could halt the aging process for several decades, but be powerless to extend age much past 120 or 130 years. One could look and feel 18 until one's 125th birthday, and then just drop dead a week later..
Sterility is not a problem more birth control, since you either freeze eggs and/or sperm, or take a skin sample later and clone the appropriate equipment.
