I don't know that I have any thoughts or advice unfortunately (other than to suggest that it might be a glitch in the app).

It's not a glitch in my app. ;-)

Taking characteristic improvements instead of more skills lets you stay ahead of aging reductions and get to a ripe old age.

OLD CHARACTER:
Yes, I once set out to create a 70 year old “other” in Classic Traveller to play as a retired “Godfather” with lots of “interpersonal skills” rather than the combat and technical skills that groups always seem to have in abundance. It was funny when he attempted to throw a chair during a barroom brawl and failed the strength check to lift it.
 
Will it generate an Archduke character?

Potentially, but if you look at the Noble career rules, it's a very low probability. Rank increases are hard to get each term, and it's hard to get in a lot of terms. Since it's a "final" career, once you get booted out, your character is done. The odds are a little better if you start out with a very high SOC before entering the Noble career.

Do the T5.10 rules allow for the generation of stats (e.g. C6/Soc) above 15 under normal circumstances? I though 15 was still the cap for all human stats.

The only place in the rules I can find right now is Bk2 pg68 where it does limit characteristic improvements for humans to 15 when mustering out.

Can't locate a rule for characteristic improvements from skill tables.

Of course, non-humans can go higher depending on the number of dice used to roll a characteristic.

Note that Briandabel's character above ended up with C5/Edu=33 and C6/Soc=18. So she is the font of all Ancient wisdom & knowledge (and peer of Yaskoydray), and she is on a social par equal with Emperor Strephon.

Her fame goes beyond the Universe, extending to all of Reality in all of its planes and parallel-dimensions.

Best to activate the Agent and take her out.

won't do any good: by now she knows about the Agent and has all sorts of ways to stay safe. She'll just drop him into a pocket universe, along with all his wafers. Then build a time machine to go back and erase her personal history, and then we find out she IS Grandfather....
 
I guess my question is how does anyone survive 29 terms in Scouts. That strikes me as beyond the realm of probability, even if generated by a software program. At some point you have to say, "Enough is Enough" and rule the character failed to survive that long. Then there is the matter of aging rolls as well. If a character generation program does that, there is a problem in the program.

Mine does the same thing. Such ranks are extremely rare. But for a computer that's iterating, it can take a few minutes sometimes.

I have Emperor characters at SOC 21. I think that is what T5 used.

Emperor in T5.10/Bk 1 (p. 55) is explicitly C6/Soc=H (17), (though there may be one place that says J (18); I could be misremembering, however).

Imperial Family is variously listed as either C6/Soc=G (16 - equivalent to Archduke) or C6/Soc=h (17 - above Archduke but below Emperor).

I can't check at the moment, but I seem t recall that T5 doesn't have the fixed survival numbers that CT, MT, TNE, T4, and T20 use. (To be honest, T5 Char Gen makes my head hurt.)
 
Sanity does not seem to be handled correctly.

Sanity is decreased the first term in the Scouts, it should be after two terms?

Sanity is not decreased every two terms. Courier duty is exempt from Risk/Reward rolls, but Sanity loss is automatic, not dependent on a roll.

Sanity seems to be re-rolled (with a new genetic die) in term 23, after being reduced to 0 in term 21. SAN=0 is insanity with an added Flux on all INT and EDU rolls.
