Ancient - Absent Friend
We're curious to see if T20 is bringing in any new players to the game, if it might be luring old players back who haven't played in a while, or if it is not doing much at all!

Okies, Old & switched. CT to MT; MT to TNE; TNe stubbronly til T20. T20 now...online!(another first!)

Mike Rourke-ISS URSULA
aka on CoTI as,

Old fan (CT and bought a couple of MT books but never played it) who fell out and am getting back into it with T20.

On the other side of the coin, the group that I referee is comprised of 4 people who have never played any version of Traveller.

Old fan. But a couple of my friends who don't like CT do like T20.

I'm a fan since '92, though I only had my first play session - using CT rules - this past Saturday. T20 isn't even a part of my collection yet due to expense, but it did get me actually playing. Eventually I'll do the "Grognard" option, though I don't know if I'll use it to play.

I voted "None of the Above". I haven't bought it yet and I'm not sure I will. Reading various posts on these web boards leave me with the impression that the rules are a mess in need of major errata. Since the reprint isn't going to include any corrections I see little point in buying THE TRAVELLER'S HANDBOOK any time soon.

Started my SF RPG collection with the LBBs back in 1980. I've bounced around to other games and systems since (Space Opera, 2300AD, MegaTraveller, Star Wars, GURPS, and most recently Big Eyes Small Mouth just to name a few), but it's nice to 'come home' so to speak. The character I'm playing in the ISS Ursula campaign was one I created with CT in 1981 and I have converted his stats to all of the games listed above at one time or another.

Ultimately, I'm not sure how helpful this survey will be - I know quite a few people who are new to Traveller with T20, but none of them are on this forum.

cheers,

thom

New...

Me and my group were searching for a SF RPG and kept missing Traveller... Found T20 lying on a table in the local RPG store, picked it up, flipped through pages and bought it.

I've prepped up the others in my group for a One Shot T20 session and none seems reluctant. Might get regular if they like it. Another player want to use T20 rules for a Vorkosigan based game, so we might just get 2 games running ;)

While I never played Traveller (in any incarnation; I used to have the GRUPS version and I just got the T20 rulebook), I like the setting : it's sound enough in areas like science and sociology while leaving you with enough space pour good old space-opera adventures.

One of my friend is planning a demo game for our regular group, and I can't wait for him to make the big announcemnt. ;)

Although I love most things Traveller, the D20 rules turn me off sufficiently that I find I have no interest in purchasing the Handbook.

One important thing to remember about T20 is that no matter how good the character is, ANYONE can take them down.
Which is rather a good idea.

Hey, it's Traveller, not Marvel or AD&D

Hey, HH!! Finally decided to post?

BTW, I've got my hands on a copy of Gurps Far Trader :D

I know, I know... don't rush me

I've got a few idea for the OneShot, I just hop Grizzly won't steal my game, since he indicated he wanted to do something in the Vorkosigan's background but with D20 rules (he hasn't read T20 yet)

I'll begin drawing up a synopsis and putting together some characters for all the group. Don't worry, Fred won't be Engineer nor you an Techie

Old and back, but with a twist. I'm back into Traveller due to the T20 book, but I'm preparing to run a game with GURPS.
Works for me. I'm glad to see it give GURPS Traveller a kick too! You're back and playing the game again. I count that as a success.

TOO OLD & BACK......got 1st edition of LBB's back in '79

got into MEGA when it came out (80's wasn't it?)...

got into TNE when that hit the stands

but, much of our group(s) never stayed togther (except the LBB period, that was in High School)beyond making characters....

had to get T20 for 2 reasons 1) I like science in my sci-fi...2) d20 has ALOT of followers, MAYBE I can actually get players.
