CT Only: Attribute increases.

I don't see why you can't use the Edu increase that a correspondence course grants in the experience section during prior generation to raise your Edu to be equal to your Int.

You could limit it to no more than a 2 point increase per term, but do high TL armed forces really not invest in raising the basic education of their troops?

Even the British Army does that...

Rule-wise, this wouldn't be possible because your initial 2D throw for all attributes represent your character's state at 18 years old. Technically, these stats can go down (representing the character at an earlier age) but not up.

But, college should be an option.

So what's would you say was the minimum education score for someone who had graduated high school after 12 years of schooling?

I'm sure there are Third Imperium worlds where a child can embark on a career with no education to speak of (i.e. Edu 2) regardless of his intelligence, but there must also be some that impose mandatory schooling and actually do their best to educate their children. In such a society I can certainly see education as correlated very strongly with intelligence.

And what if the player character's homeworld is one of those?

Dunno.

Remember that a score of 2 in CT is still a decent score. It's not sub-human or retarded.

But, when you create a CT character, your throws represent your character at age 18, just as he attempts to move on to a career or college.

An 18 year old with EDU 2 maybe didn't go to high school, is a drop out, maybe has a learning disability. Then again, maybe he graduated form high school but is not at all skilled in applying anything he learned--or just doesn't care about learning.
