Battalion Equivalents?

Was there any place in TNE that mentioned Battalion Equivalents for determining military forces?

I could have sworn I saw something like this in The Planet Tamer's Handbook, but durned if I could find it.

IIRC, you could look at a world's (or country's) population level and come up with a rough number of BEs for the military.

Did I just imagine this, or am I looking in the wrong sources?

Thanks for anyone's help!

Wrong source. It's in MT's Rebellion Sourcebook, page 37. It might be in Striker II, as well, but I don't have the PDF and the dead tree is not accessible.

From memory, I think someone worked out the equivalent table for SDBs based upon FFW game. The T4 Pocket empires has some rules for armies, SDBs, deployable troops as well but don't think they match the FFW versions

Didn't smash and grab allow you to work out the size of armies / navies based on the population size, ammount of water and tech level.

They assumed 1 combat trooper per 4 support personnel and a battalion of 500 people.

GT:Ground Forces has some stuff about BEs too. I believe it expands on them quite a bit, but I could be wrong.

Path of Tears pages 95-97 allow you flesh out the structure of armed forces in the wilds. Ground Forces are detailed in Battalion and Division Equivalents.

Keep in mind that Path of Tears was designed for the post virus milieu. This results in much smaller star forces for example. with the balance of 'troops' after creation of these forces, airforce and wet navies going into the ground forces.

Starviking called it. Path of Tears. IIRC, the TNE-RCES group used slight modification to determine Reformation Coalition forces with it, too. It took into account the books (Aubaine has a 30k ton Planet-CA as a monitor)

I also used it to some extent for my old Banners Campaign. But is does need some fudging for Pocket Empires, how else could the planet Alston end up with a 75,000 dt Regal class battlecruiser as the orbital high port?

Right. It was made for the Wilds, not for PE's so some adjustments are more than permissible
