At the risk of sounding ignorant (which in truth I am.) What is a DGP and what should I know about it if I'm interested in playing traveller and/or writing books using traveller style roleplaying as inspiration?

On topic - I think the Kzin would work well anywhere close to the K'Kree - provided they're not too Aslan like for your taste (too many tabby's could spoil the TU broth!)

The Kzinti worked well in Star Fleet Battles.

They *could* work fine in an alternate-history Traveller campaign. Come to think of it, I remember reading something that GDW wrote about the Aslans... and that the Kzin were partly an inspiration to put the Aslans in the Trav universe.

DGP - Digest Group Publications - was a small company that produced some of the best authorised for Traveller materials ever made. They started with a fanzine a bit like JTAS called the Travellers' Digest, and later came such things as Grand Survey, Grand Census, 101 Robots. They wrote LBB8 :Robots.
Many would argue that their greatest ahievement was their unified task system for CT.

They wrote most of MegaTraveller, and developed it for many years until GDW decided to take it back in house.

There's at least one other feline non-human race detailed in a JTAS or Challenge IIRC.
