I really like the textures. The procedurals on the sides of the containers seem a bit like vertical lines. I like how the lighting works with the textures as well.

If I may ask, is there anything considered canon regarding whether standard shipping containers are vacuum safe/hard-space durable ?

That said, would the container's volume be less due to outer surface thickness or internal insulation ?

And are 'space-worthy' containers rated for proof against various radiations and-or micrometeorite penetration ?

2.65 x 2.65 x 5.75m (3dt). Small enough to actually fit into a ship, be moved, secured, etc.

Any chance of making them 3 x 3 x 6 (4dt)? or 3 x 3 x 12 (8dt)?

I ask because of:

CraftID: Cargo Container, TL6, Cr 1,745

The standard cargo container of the old Empire was designed to be able to be built on the majority of worlds within the old Empire. The 3x3x6 m dimensions allow it to take up 4 standard tons of cargo space, and this has caused the merchant fleet and cargo carrying boats and vehicles to be designed to accommodate this.
As these were the old Empire’s standard, they are therefore the standard container in Home County. There are still containers being shipped around Home County that were built in the old Empire before the battle of Homestead. As there is very little attrition standard containers are generally only currently built on Mirshegam, by Cutour Corporation, however there are companies in Boogerian, and on Riftgate and Udesh that have the capability to build them as the need arises.

and I have a number of other versions as well.

Best regards,

Ewan

Note my comment - a 3x3x6 container won't fit!

Assuming decks are 20cm thick and walls are 10cm, a "4dt" slot holds at most 2.9x2.8x5.9, or 3.4dt. Once you include manoeuvre space you soon get down to 3dt.

As Andrew notes, and Traveller repeatedly ignores, you can't fit 4tons inside 4tons :)

I've long taken the road Andrew did, but I would rate that container of his as 4tons, not 3tons. It doesn't actually hold 4tons of goods for shipping (just 3tons or so), but it requires 4tons of hold for shipping and that's what's important to the free-trader Captain. Scale up for other sizes. You have to allow clearances, and loose on packing.

So, what? the shipper pays Cr 4,000 for the allocation of 4 dtons of space on the ship, but can only ship 3 dtons?

Manks sense. Would make running speculative cargo more interesting.

Anyway I'll just say the cargo containers are 3x3x6 ;)

It's not like the designe sequenses are that realistic anyway.

Great pic BTW Andrew.

Best regards,

Ewan

I prefer to RPG Traveller, not to SIM Traveller. A lot of members here are more into hardcore realistic simulation even though all the library data (historical and otherwise) collected about every subsector in the Imperium and other mapped regions mentioned over the years is based on pure fantasy.

So what is Naarsirka?

Is it some cheap outworld knock-off of a Megacorporation with a similar but not identical name?
Is it the RP version of Naasirka?
Is it the pirate version?
