Colonial Fleets

I'm affraid none of the ships you say may be supported by Regina (TL 10 in CT, 12 in MT), nor by any world in its subsector (highest TL 13 at Efate, Pixie and Boughene).

If I understand the Battleship thread, TL15 worlds aren't necessary if you have appropriate resources nearby.

So, I suppose I'll have to posit a battleship (or a squadron) in the subsector for support purposes... Probably a permanent rotation due to being so close to the frontier.

And in the the thread about when is official a TL, I posted that most IN bases must be stuffed with TL 15 spares, but that doesn't count, as it is, like those TL 15 BBs you mention, Imperial property, not subsector's, so in peacetime I don't think IN will use those mighty BBs as supply ships for Subsector Navies.

I keep deffending that Subsector and Planetary Navies must be sustainable by their respective subsector/planet.

I think counting on this BBs or IN bases to mantain Subsector Navy whould be as for the Spanish fleet today to believe they can opperate far from their bases because there's a US supply ship/TF near that can support them, or use US supplies/facilities in the joint base of Rota. Sure the US fleet can, but i guess they won't do so without previous acord, nor will allow the Spanish navy to profit from US supplies on Rota (in peace time at least).

It's more complicated than that of course, but your point is not unreasonable.

At the same time, The Imperium is embodied in nobility who run the subsector capitals. Norris' allegiance is to the Emperor. Regina will have support from an imperial battle group, for at least as long as there is a credible threat to the Imperium. This is on the one hand very useful, and on the other manifests the responsibility and allegiance of Regina, and Norris, to the Emperor.

Still, colonial elements are generally local, and not at the Imperial tech levels, although they are quite often made up of older fleet elements which have been farmed off.

There are many different kinds of colonial forces.

Forces on loan from the Imperial Navy.
Forces sold off to worlds from the navy. Older ships but still useful.
Mixed forces for patrol, survey, escort, defense, and projection. Various mixes of these, and even some missing.
This varies based on a world's situation and needs.
