CT/Gurps UWP generator ?

JimMarn

I have lots of planet maps. But going through and making UWPs for all of them is a pain.

I have looked through the software area of these forums and did a duckduckgo search.

What I am looking for is a UWP generator, then I can just pick from that list one for each map. The basic UWP, plus plants, animals, exports, imports, etc. would be nice to.

Thanks !

The one on Donjon is pretty nice, that site has some other useful generators too.

Have you looked through the 'Software Solutions' thread?

Simon Hibbs

I looked through that list, and nothing hit me. I'll look at that link. Thanks !

edit: I did try that one. But I just need a text listing. I have the maps and names. Most of the planets I am using are temperate, ice, or water.

Good Luck with your efforts. I am doing my Piper Sector strictly by hand, and I figure that will be about 300 or so planets. However, as some will be based on Piper stories, I will not be starting from scratch.

Yeah, Piper named many of the planets in his stories. I have a huge spreadsheet where I list names in alphabetical order.

I can just continue to use the book 2 starter kit charts to do mine.

I just am not a fan of random generators, as I would rather determine myself where the planet goes in the subsector, and what characteristics is has. I might roll the characteristics, at least the physical ones, and then play with them a bit to get what I want.

If you are asking for a generator, aren't you by definition asking for a random one?

And there is no need to keep the map, just keep the UWP's, edit as you like, then place them where you want in the subsector.

If you aren't asking for a random generator, then aren't you really looking for a Mapper that allows you to get Trav quality subsector maps using your choice of UWP and location?

As such, I believe there is a way to edit code of The Traveller Map (https://travellermap.com/) to create a subsector map using your data.

Everything below 'Atmospheric Fix' is cutoff. No generate button. Refreshing doesn't get new names, UWP, etc. And I don't have anything that will read postscript.

I use Ghostscript.

Free, so the price is right. Works in windows and linux.

As to it cutting off, I have no idea. No such issues for me not two hours ago. Did you notice the "Generate" (under New Subsector) button towards the bottom of the page?

I was not and have not been asking for a generator. JimMarn has been.

The only Generate I saw was 'Generate Postscript'.

I'll check with MS Edge, which I really hate.
