CT Only: CT HG 2e Small Crew

Apparently that is not a full time job.
On small craft, the concept of implementation of sandcasters seems to be similar to that of countermeasure chaff and flare for today's combat aircraft -- they don't need to be aimed, just fired/released.

For ship-sized spacecraft, I seem to recall a hand-waved explanation involving a gravitic or electrostatic field to contain and position the sand cloud in between the vessel being screened and its attacker, so skill or computer control can help.

Morning PST AnotherDilbert,

Apparently that is not a full time job.

Based on CT LBB 2 Starships 2e 1977/1981 and CT LBB 5 HG 2e 1980 Gunner requirements my understanding is:

A turret should have at least one crew member with gunnery skill. Turrets on hulls <= 1,000 tons may mix types of weapons and hulls > 1,000 cannot mix weapon types in a turret. Small craft are assumed to carry one turret that can have mixed weapon types. The pilot is assumed to be the gunner when the assumed turret has the same type of weapon installed in the turret.

This is the area that we appear to be on different pages.
An armed small craft should have a crew member with gunnery assigned to the assumed turret.

If the assumed turret has all the same weapon type either the pilot or a crew member with gunnery skills can operate the assumed turret and the weapons mounted there.

If the assumed turret has a mix of weapon types a crew member with gunnery skills should be operating the assumed turret.
