CT Lasers

I know this question has been answered before, but I have since lost track of the information, so I will ask it again.

In Bk2 space combat, what is the difference between a beam laser and a pulse laser?

I seem to remember that the beam laser gets some modifier to hit, and the pulse laser gets a damage modifier, but I just can remember what they are.

Having checked through the reprints, Traveller Book, 1st ed LBB Book 2 I finally find all the info in the Starter Traveller Rules Booklet!

A Pulse Laser has a -1 hit DM but inflicts two damage rolls.

It's over ten years now, but I did some reading and found out that there were indeed two types of laser. The chemical laser (which produced in a beam) and another type (which I cannot remember the name of!!) which produced short pulses. So Marc definately based his lasers on real world developments ...
