CT Only: Cyborg ideas and resources

Love that cheesy movie. It's so-bad-it's-almost-good.
Two takeaways from that movie: Blue Dreamers pills* and Keitel's neck-socket to link with his robot pal. Both perfect for Traveller!

The latter is another great idea for cyborg-adaptation. A similar concept was mandatory for all PCs in the obscure, gonzo scifi RPG Space Quest. They were jacks which allowed PCs to literally plug into ships to operate them:

* although I'm still not sure what effect(s) they would have on PCs.

Unfortunately, I was never able to find Space Quest.

JTAS #22 had a "Computer Implants" article by Andy Keith. He discusses interfacing with gunner, pilot, or navigation programs via computer link. He also discusses skill enhancement. The stuff is ridiculously expensive. TL 14+. MCr 10 for the implant. MCr 2 for the linkage. MCr 1 for a remote terminal. But, it does grant an effective 16 on both Intelligence and Education.

I can't quite make out his neck socket

What's so goofy about that? It's not like it didn't show up all the time in the source material....

What was the source material for Space Quest? All these years I assumed the authors consumed magic mushrooms and committed their lucid out-of-body hallucinations to paper.

The neck socket:

++Laugh++ I remember that movie... I love 80s cheezy Scifi...

To be honest, I was thinking very low scale. Sort of like Steve Shatterhand from the NES game 'Shatterhand' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shatterhand

I am thinking that the damage might do a little more then normal punches, but really was just looking for ideas as organ replacements.

I like the suggestions that "if a device can do it" then make a body replacement to do it.
