E. C. Tubb, R.I.P.

I believe he wrote paperback versions "of" the episodes.
I don't think he actually wrote the episodes themselves.

Hmm.... something to ponder during my next can't $%^& sleep google session.

Wow! :oo: I had no idea he was still with us until recently. :( I've gotten through the first 5 or so of the "Dumarest" novels and have enjoyed them greatly. His Winds of Gath (Dumarest #1) is a must-read. Travel on, good sir. :(

Dang.

Well, he sure left us a legacy. Beside Dumarest, he wrote the Cap Kennedy series as Gregory Kern, a bunch of westerns under a dozen names including Eric Storm, Chuck Adams, and M.L. Powers. For those that dislike the more fantastic version of Space:1999 we got in the second season, he not only wrote the novelizations of the first season, but wrote novels that extended the story, ignored the second season, and brought the original story to a conclusion in "Earthfall."

My wife and I have really been enjoying the Dumarest series together. What adds to our enjoyment is discovering that we've been enjoying his books for years under pseudonyms.

What a life well spent.

< A burst of feedback as the Rising Wind's 1MC circuit comes on >

All hands, this is Captain Rekobah. Memorial services will now commence. Maintain silence about the decks. Commence taps...

:(

I didn't know anything about him until this thread. I am already ordering some of his books from Amazon.

If he was still alive ... then why weren't his books still in print?!?

Some were, plus it's my understanding that omnibus editions were in the works. Some may have been released, I'm not sure. Most of his stories were too short to be sold in the current novel format. I'd heard before his death that compilations of 4-5 books under one cover were to appear. I wasn't watching closely, but I expected to pick them up once I saw them. IIRC, I first saw notice of the omnibus editions in Locus about a year and a half ago.

Two new novels of his are awaiting publication, too.

I'm sorry to see him pass. His novel "Tuff Voyaging" spawned a really cool set of adventures for my players.
