Hi Frank,

I hear you talking at me.

I still remember the feeling of reading the mayday from the free trader beowulf on the box cover and the magic of those three little black and red books.

But I must admit I was never quite fond of all those six sided dice. I've been out of roleplaying for some time, but I think that D20 system has something going for it. I may just have to plonk down some hard earned $$$ and get a copt of the T20 book.

Don't get me wrong, I love classic Traveller but the new system seams to flow a little better.

Classic Traveller
Start the game
"...It's a simple job..."

and a little variation from 5-3-5...a 7-5-7 haiku ;)

Travellers fly to the stars
Adventure awaits

After reviewing the criteria for a proper "english haiku" - http://www.haikai.info/articles/swede.definition.html

1. The haiku must be brief, that is, when read aloud it should be one breath-length long.

2. The haiku must express a sense of awe or transcendental insight.

3. The haiku must involve some aspect of nature other than human nature.

4. The haiku must possess sense images not generalizations.

5. The haiku must present an event as happening now, not in the past or in the future.

I believe I am now equipped to formulate the perfect Traveller haiku:

Aslan fresher down
emergency on deck three
"Tidy Cat" will work

I'm sorry. After reviewing my post to see what elicited your response, I can see how I came off "high-handed". Twasn't my intent, I assure you (since I enjoyed yours). It was a rather lame attempt on my part in portraying myself as a novice who had to look up the proper method to write the "perfect" Traveller haiku (it obviously isn't).

Again, apologies. :(

</font>[/QUOTE]I understand. Your response did seem critical and caught me off guard, but no worries.
Actually you did something I should have to begin with. I was going from memory about what a haiku is...forgetting that my memory sucks

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it

Also, a classic haiku is 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables.

A sky filled with stars,
possibilities endless;
Where do I go now?

For the crew of the (I)SS Ursula-Live RPG by chat game:
Ursula
"(a)Bomb in the jump drive;
A ship of gypsies, tramps, thieves
Asks,"Who guards the guards?"
